Business: Budget Designer Florals

Location: Forest, VA USA

Type of Business: Wedding & Event Florist

About Me: I currently only do wedding and events along with a few funerals. I got into floral design by accident. My mother in law owned a flower shop in Camarillo, CA where I lived about 5 years ago. I was a an asp.net programmer at the time for a company called Engineering Management Concepts working on moving current Naval software to asp.net. Well, on my lunch breaks, I would go to the flower shop and hang out. Eventually, I ended up helping them on my lunch breaks making arrangements for orders and for the cooler out front. After a short while, I was coming in to help with weddings & major holidays as well. I moved down to part time on the programming job and worked at the flower shop the other half of the time. And then it became full time.

Well, due to rising costs in the area, my mother in law's shop had to close down. Big business moved out of the shopping center she was in and pulled away a lot of walk in traffic. Eventually she had to close her doors. Since then I have become educated on floral design and continue to learn as much as possible. I started my business in 2007 and have had a good deal of success so far.

Tracy,

There are a few threads around regarding budget's intro. I will try your trick and link to one of them... http://www.flowerchat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18191

I hope that worked!!!!

Budget, Do you work out of your home or a commercial space? Do you have a commercial cooler for flowers? Do you have a business license and/or pay sales tax?

Your photos on Google are lovely - you really need to get those on a website.

Good luck to you, and welcome
:)

Thank you Tracy, but due to the rude snobs, I will not be hanging around. I guess doing what you need to, to stay in business is looked down upon. I would rather keep my business than go down as a snobby martar.

Ah, no, not snobby martyrs. Just trying to be sure folks who stumble upon here are actually florists, whether home-based or retail. It's a valid group of questions, and I'm sorry you took offense as it was not intended.

Good luck to you.

Oh my, I just read all of your posts, that is so sad , this is just a place where friends gather and find great information, and it is sad that you have been so worried about what folks post, I didn't see anything wrong with anything, so well what do I know,,,

Yes and yes. The website is under construction.

-Leann

Considering your site states DIY as well as silk designs and then references party supplies, I see no mention of fresh (if under construction)
I do believe you're not going to answer viable questions such as if you have a business license, storefront or home, your "actual" education other than playing in a flower shop on your lunch time.
And the snotty attitude seems to ooze from you....see ya!
