I wanted to call them something else but it didnt seem fitting. Anyway, this is in no way intended to be a political discussion although i am sure it will end that way but...

How i laughed today, i had heard some of the daft mistakes bush had said but on the radio today it went through quite a few of them. I swear i was laughing so hard i must have looked stupid, proper belly laughing on my own. They may not seem funny now but

Being a single mom in America is the hardest job, i know how difficult it is putting a meal on your family lol

If sadam hussein was to rule the world it would be for the better

they just dont seem as funny in type and are not word for word.

I need more examples to make me chuckle, anyone got any??

No Palms... it's over for Bush and time to move forward. The past is just that. That horse is getting tired. ;)

You can likely google it though for your personal entertainment!

One of our local radio stations played a tape (?) of this one: "If you fool me once, shame on.....(pause).......you. (longer pause) But you can't fool me."

Japan learns English from Obama speech textbook
By Yoko Kubota

TOKYO (Reuters) - President-elect Barack Obama's speeches are proving a best-seller in Japan -- as an aid to learning English.

An English-language textbook, "The Speeches of Barack Obama," has sold more than 400,000 copies in two months, a big hit in a country where few hit novels sell more than a million copies a year.

Japanese have a fervor for learning English and many bookstores have a corner dedicated to dozens of journals in the language, many of them now featuring the new U.S. leader's face.

"Speeches by presidents and presidential candidates are excellent as listening tools to learn English, because their contents are good and their words are easy to catch," said Yuzo Yamamoto of Asahi Press, which produced the best-selling text book.

"Obama's is especially so. His speeches are so moving, and he also uses words such as 'yes, we can,' 'change' and 'hope' that even Japanese people can memorize," he said.

Speeches by President George W. Bush and former nominee John Kerry's four years ago did not have the same appeal, however, and nor do those made by Japanese politicians, Yamamoto said.

"In Japan, we don't have politicians who have such a positive influence. That's why we have to turn to a foreign president for someone in whom to place our hopes."

The 95-page paperback features Obama's speeches in English from the 2004 Democratic National Convention and during the Democratic Party primaries, in which he defeated Hillary Clinton. They are accompanied by Japanese translations.

The 1,050 yen ($12) book, which includes a CD of the speeches, tops the bestseller list on bookseller Amazon's Japanese Website, http://www.amazon.co.jp/

"Readers have sent in postcards saying that when they heard the speeches, they were so moved and cried even though they don't understand English very well," Yamamoto said.

He said lawmakers from Japan's main opposition Democratic Party had bought the book to study Obama's speeches.

Following Obama's inauguration on Tuesday, Asahi Press plans to issue a sequel that includes his inaugural address, as well as President John F. Kennedy's 1961 inaugural speech. It will also feature a reading of President Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg address of 1863.

naw - he's gone, Crawford has back their idiot, thank Gawd, but he earned years of disdain and ridicule, and I for one won't be putting that to bed any time soon.

Bush doesn't/didn't make mistakes, but he has left a long trail of "disappointments" as he calls them. Its hard to believe that he graduated from an Ivy league school. It will be refreshing to have a president that knows how to make a complete sentence.

It's hard not to think that his dad pulled some strings for him at Harvard. ????

Oh jeez, I just ran across this... not too flattering:

I am not the man I was. . . .

This thread should be moved to the Political Forum.

Enough is enough. . . .We have a new President, lets move forward.

Actually this thread was not intended to be political, i was just having a laugh, it could have been anyone who said those things and i would have laughed. When i heard them on the radio i really belly laughed..

Thats all.....

but i do think he was a bit of a divvy since everyones sayin... and not a very good representative of america. JMHO so pls dont shoot me down, dont want a political debate honest:grovel:

They all make mistakes. God knows we have a right twit of a PM in the UK. He needs putting down. He's crippling our country and he is spineless. I wish all you Americans Good Luck and I hope you have what you are looking for in the New Guy. We got shafted. He is now making as much mess as possible so when he goes it will take the new comers years to rectify all the problems.

Oh yeah i couldnt agree more, well i actually dont mind gordon but he has got about as much charm and charisma as a brick wall with no paint on.

I dont think he does that bad though, but then i dont know stuff!!

The man is a full weight idiot. If he stays in, we don't have a hope in hell. Who has been the Chancellor of the Exchequer for years. Gordon Brown. He made huge errors in that position the just walks into the PM postion. He wasn't voted in. It is plan wrong and he is wrong. My husband thinks he's a Lizard like off that cult TV program 'V'. He does a very strange sucing in air action when he talks, it drives us mad.

Oh my god i thought that was just me, it drives me up the wall and i am forever mimicking him to my hubby. How funny lol I noticed thattoo.

I gather you dont like gordon much then ah Jo??
