I have some friends that I helped out in Brookings Oregon that are a group of harvesters. Their company is called Northwest Wildthings, phone number is 541-469-2407. I have no idea if they are still around, but if they are then they can get anything for your customer.

I guess the 80"s TRULY are back if people want drift wood.

I remember doing a lot of grapevine root pieces back in the day. My mom was a freakin' genius at those!

Now I'm curious to see who will have 'em!

we bought some amazing grape wood pieces from Nettleton Hollow - they have driftwood, grape wood (more interesting shapes that seem like driftwood but aren't) manzanita ... nice stuff.

the Moss supplier that someone mentioned a while ago also has wood listed - Moss Ulimited from Oregon.

I have 350 cypress knees in my warehouse...they are different than driftwood but very cool to use along with orchids etc...they average about 7-10 each and stand about 11-14 inches tall. These are the natural ones with bark on them...I had them harvested in LA ...
cool stuff. They have a drilled hole in the bottom and have a hyacinth stick in the...some have two to keep them from wobbling over.

crap, is it coming back???
we used to gather the stuff by the truck loads until the tourists started carting it back to MA, NY, PA.... LOL.......
now it's hard to come by on our lakes beaches (of course doesn't help we've had so much rain that our lakes are full and the driftwood is still submerged.

I wonder how many people have had requests for Driftwood pieces from customers?

Sounds like you made a bunch too eh, Rhonda?

Whaallll.... when you're in a "touristy" area...ya do what you can to bring the tourists into your shop as they walk by......driftwood used to do it.......what can I say........;)

Man, Growing up in New Mexico People always wanted that "southwest look" with plastic cactus, faux yucca blossoms, all that glued on the grapevine root.

Then they come back at Christmas and want a Christmas themed one. Most of them sold for $100 or more and that was back in the 80's for us.

That is when we became such big fans of the hot glue pan!

I wish my Mom had pics for her Grapevine root pieces, she really did do an amazing job on those. She's also use dried flowers... Lots of Yarrow I remember.

Well, other 80s stuff is coming back. I guess we shouldn't be surprised. I just so hope big hair and side ponytails don't come back!

There's a woman in Kansas I think that started a tumbleweed business! What an idea! She collects them, they're free, businesses welcome her into their lots to clean them up... she ships them out to movie sets, weddings and parties with a Western/Southwestern theme, people in other areas of the country that want them as decor, etc.

Says she makes $40,000 a year with this internet business.
