I was a big supporter of Obama and was a little upset to hear today that the new presidents car is going to be a escalade limo custom of course with all the luxuries and bullet proof .My question what is wrong with the deville or if you need to have a new one how a bout somethig that gets at least 20mpg I mean why not just get a hummer (oh yeah thats Bill's territory)Just venting:spintongu

Better yet take the bus, and trade in airforce one for a hanglider.
President elect Obama will need every ounce of protection that the escalade will give him. This is not the same as choosing a vehicle for you or I or Bill Clinton. There are still lots of folks out there that are not happy with a President that wants to bring us all together as Americans and hopes to represent every one.

I am very happy he got elected and bye no means want him taking the bus. I am just wondering what is wrong with the usual Caddilac Deville it is just as bullet proof and maybe even safer as it is closer to the ground and not as big of a target. I remember the promise to stop useless spending I feel this is overspending. PS It would be funny to see him handgliding

I, to am very happy for his election, I am just hoping that there was a reason for his purchase, I am not familiar with MPG"s and economics of limousines and stretch auto's outfitted with all the up to date safety features and comforts suitable for the most important family in the world. I have seen so much negativity toward the Man that wants to help all Americans to thrive, that I think I saw your post as accusing the President elect as wanting a Pimpmobile or a Gangsta ride. Now I see that you are just another concerned citizen, a watchful eye. you are budget comittee material.

So this is for real?? I thought you were joking Brad.

Nothing wrong with it. . . .

The leader of THE worlds greatest nation on earth deserves to have the latest and safest ride available. Should have all the latest communications technology and armor protection available.
Technologies for jamming remote detonations, etc.

Only the best. Period. No expense spared.

Who cares about the mileage, seriously.

You were kidding right. . . .

it's all about the security.....who provides the best...

Naw... I think this will work out better...

Although I did not vote for President Elect Obama, and disagree strongly with many of his policies....I do feel that the President of the United States should have the best vehicle possible to ride in. Yes, it may be a huge gas guzzler because of all the bulletproof plating, but, I'd rather have my tax dollars spent on keeping our President safe than try and save a few bucks and leave him vulnerable to some lunatic or terrorist.

As for him having all the latest "gadgets," well, I think it is vitally important to our national security that he has the very latest in secure communications technology so that he can communicate with his staff without fear of information "leaks."

Well put Lisa, and you are not even a supporter. The man is already being raked over the coals. After you add all the features of a Presidential Limo, I don"t think that the outer shell has much is much more that a look, and very little to do with gas milage. But this thread did get some attention. Can you imagine how heavy 5 inch thick glass is.
