You heard it here first - Meg Whitman is contemplating a run for Governor of California. :faint:

If she operates the state like she did FTD.....

Maybe it will inspire Bob Norton to run for Illinois' soon-to-be-open seat. ;)

P.S. This isn't a political thread, just a news you can (or cannot) use.
 
If this were to come to pass......How quickly would Avante-Gardens find a new state ????

Let me try to remember MEG Cathy.

When she came to FTDI, her comments were: This is just like any other company I've had to manage like Disney, Stride Rite, and P & G.

And then, when she left, her comments were: FTDI and THE FLORISTS were not like any other company I've ever had to manage in my life!

I distinctly remember her comments to me as we took a break outside of the Convention Hall in Minneapolis, MN., back in 1996. (Steve and I were taking a smoking break, and she just happened to walk by)

"So Meg, when can we FTD members expect to expand our SAME-DAY-DELIVERY market niche with QUALITY BRAND NAMED GIFTS, (AKA: TOTO's BIG ASS HAMS) which we can both stock in our shops, or have drop shipped to the recipients on behalf of our customers via the FTDI Marketplace?"

"Well TOTO, that's just NOT ON MY RADAR SCREEN RIGHT NOW!" (and into the sunset she went)

One of our very Dear and Devoted long time friend of FTDA, (now long gone) Steve Hahn, just looked over at me, and rolled his eyes up to the sky! (say no more, say no more)

No surprise though, since even McCain suggested he might tap her for a cabinet position, although that too, is obviously, NOT ON HER RADAR SCREEN RIGHT NOW either.

And since THE GOVERNATOR has thrown his hat into a possible run for President, even though, and under our Constitution he can't, since he is NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN of the U.S., only the Good Lord knows what they may try to do to change all that. After all, and in THEIR OPINION, the U.S. Constitution is a LIVING BREATHING DOCUMENT which they seem to feel, our founder's intended to be changed based on any whim at anytime by anybody.

Now, THE GOVERNATOR is a guy who has done such a GREAT JOB running California into the hole with a 41.8 BILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT, that HE TOO, like MEG, is sure to be well qualified for the job.

Ya just CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP, 'cause no one would believe it!

IMO Meg Whitman is neither an idiot nor a crook. Well polished with a Forest Gump-esque landing at eBay career pinnacle. I doubt the eBay sellers would vote for her either, based on the way she dealt with most of them (and the fallout continues.) But she's amassed way more money than all the FCer's combined.

You are free to use those term to describe others, however. ;)
