I'm tired of scouring the magazines and internet for a great! candle centerpiece that look like a million bucks but cost the client only $45. If I see one more clear glass dish with floating orchids and candles - I'm going to snap. I typically provide a silver tray of 4 different height pillars (each encased in a glass cyclinder) adorned with rose petals at the base. How boring but it provides the needed volume for a 60" round table. I charge $90 for it but I want something new and fabulous and cheap. I sound like the customer, don't I. Help me floral experts, help me with this challenge... :loopy

thank you Boss. i'll be expecting big ideas... have a good weekend.
Oh...don't thank me....et.... 2:30pm Sunday is when the Green Flag drops on the 2008 Daytona 500...nothing in my world is more important than that right now....

thanks mocha rose but in the resorts I work with, none of them allow an open flame. So tapers, unless with shade, are prohibited. Even pillars must be contained. I'll keep the link though.

You could shade them - use votive cupholders/tulip holders that fit in taper holders and fill with votives. Heck, they may even have one of those tulip holders for tapers now ... Look around on that site some more - there are some nice votive holders that could be made more substantial.

How about stringing some dendros on a colored aluminum wire, and sumberging them in the cylinders you have, with floating puck candle on top.

Or doing the same as above with rose petals.
Or getting a really fat tall cylinder - like 10" wide - and using an inner cylinder with another cylinder over a pillar, then fill the outer cylinder with water and those wired dendro spirals, or petals, or crystals, or shells. Then accent the table with the same.

that's it -going home! Hope these spark some creativity -good luck!

One idea is to use a idea that I saw presented by Hitomi Gilliam AIFD is the "Living Candle" which I have used several times. Take a cylinder of oasis, wrap it with anchor tape to make a cage for additional support and to keep the oasis from crumbling, glue to a saucer, in the top, cut out a space to place a votive cup and candle, soak the foam, and design a "living candle"

I'm not sure of the exact issue, but in one of the Flowers& magazines that features Hitomi Gilliam's column, shows three versions of a holiday candle design is where I got the idea, and then at a show, she presented a similar design. And then with a little bit of playing around, The "living candle" idea evolved.

Additionally, instead of carving oasis into a cylinder shape, I have stacked the oasis flower cake forms on top of each other to create a cylinder shape. As far as proportions, I would think that either one large one or several smaller ones combined would work. When I use the flower cake forms, I carve out a space for three small tealight votive cups to fit in.

I wouldn't put to much in to this, but some places are not going to be allowing any type of candles what so ever, and one location, I just did in CA , the fire marshall has to approve all candle before used... I will post ideas later but one, that comes to mnd, from the 80's is large vase with hanging votives use to do tons of these,,,but folks loved them...

Queen - I'd love it if candles are outlawed then I wouldn't have this design dilema. Until two years ago, I really did not do candle centerpieces - it was all about flowers with pretty votives to accent - easy. My problem is that my typical bride has 150 guests and the centerpieces add up. I do hanging votives too but they are always hanging out of full-blown floral centerpieces. I look forward to your inspiration.

I really like this.

Love this look also, and can be adapted by using real candles hollowed out and insert LED lights, also inside the votives. The loose and airy was achieved by the assortment size of the candle mix...it could have less mini cyms, and add the glass/crystal looking touches for a real good look.

They also have the new faux column candles with LED inserts, that are great. It start to elimate the extra added clear glass covers, offer more creative touches, with the color benadable wires by Oasis Brand Product, or similar.

Good Luck.
