Car Bows

Someone's getting a car for christmas..
A local car dealership wants me to make 4 LARGE bows for their cars.
He said he wanted the ones like in the Lexus commercial, made out of velvet. I have a few ideas on how to make these but thought I'd ask the experts here for any advice.

We make a few each Christmas, and do ours with a round card board backing and make the bow out of loops glued to the card board in layers starting at the outer edge and working inward.

I've made a lot of those over the years, as I was the "bow queen' at a craft store many years ago. Have made them the traditional way, and they get huge and difficult to manuver in small hands. Then I went to a dealership and saw how they do it. it is cut legnths of heavily wired stiff ribbon held together in the center with a large brass pin, (like the ones we used to use to hold papers together , with the bend up wings ). works great and can be taken apart and stored flat easily.

Jennifer, we do quite a few of them - we use red velvet ribbon, 6" wide - our wholes saler orders it by the case for us - I think 8 or 12 rolls at a time. Red Velvet one side, gold the other. We cut a 4" sq block of stryo, cover the bottom with the ribbon so it won't scratch the car paint, then cut 2 lengths at 54", 2 at 30" for tails and 8 at 20", 7 at 18" 5 at 14" and 1 at 12" (this is the round loop at middle) all these are picked with metal picks and assembled ahead of time by picking into the styro and then put in a clear trash bag to keep clean - we are charging $70 each averaging 2 per month. old fashioned way by hand #40 or #100 ribbon and chennel stems, no wonder my hands hurt..
