Florist Shop, The Potting Shed is in Moose River, ME

Extremely small shop. I carry cut flowers and have a Greenhouse which is seasonal.

I also carry Garden Supplies and Animal Feed.

My shop is very diversified because the areas population is about 1000 people and we are 30 miles from the nearest town and 15 miles south of the Canadian border.

I have been in business since 1982. Gradually building the business.

Hi Cathy... do you design flowers for weddings, funerals, and all things in between?

On the Member Into page there are questions for the applicants to answer. It's at the bottom. It would be a big help if you could answer those for us.

Thanks.

Welcome to the board!

You'll find a wealth of information here, but here are a couple get aquainted tips.

There is also a helpful Search link at the top of every page
Search Query section
Search for Key Words;__________________________
You can us operators here such as and or +, or you can enclose the phrase in double quotations marks "search terms" to find the entire phrase.
Below that is the Advanced Search Section

Search Options section - advanced search
Select which "Forum" to search in at a time, or at all.

For example, "wire service" I would only search in the "Wire Service" section.
Many people that are new here seem to have a common theme, frustration with the wire services. Believe me, this has been discussed hundreds of times, and it's doubtful that anything new will come from further discussion of the exact same topics that has't been already beat to death, repeatedly. Do a search, you will find discussions from before - add to an older post if you feel the need rather than starting a new one.

That's the basic way, you can limit further by using some of the other "Drop-Down" menu's like if you know the thread you are looking for is only a week or so old, etc....

Now that you have a list of threads you've searched for, do not just click on the thread you want to read. Instead RIGHT click on the thread and select "Open in New Window" This will pop up a new window with that thread in it, leaving your searched list intact for you to go back to.

The purpose of the "Search" is to offer a member the opportunity to research his/her question better. There is so much information from past threads that you may never see because that member is no longer here, or doesn't see your new post, or just won't respond to the same question. So use it to your advantage and enjoy the board! View this funny and informative film about posting and searching…

Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the forum. At the top of every board there are threads that are tagged as "Sticky" These threads are "Sticky" because they contain very important/valuable information about the forum and everyone should read them.

Following these simple tips will help keep the board pertinent, and eliminate the large numbers of S-O-S posts that we get here on a daily basis, thereby making this board the valuable useful tool it can be.

But we don't want the valuable, golden money making info threads to be lost in the sea of chaff.....

Welcome Cathy,
FC is a great resource. You can find a thread on almost any topic and for the most part we are an open and friendly bunch. Jump right in.

Bob

Well then I guess we waive the answers to the questions. Although I still would like to know more Cathy... please share. Thanks.

Welcome to the community.

With Cathy not posting the answers to the questions I'm wondering if it is because she signed up well over a year ago and if the process for non active members is different than brand new members. I'll have to pay attention to other new member intros to see if that is consistent.

Either way Erlene, my hope is that Cathy will tell those of us who don't know her, more about herself, her shop and the challenges specific to her and her area.

V

I know what your hopes are regarding that and I'm sure in time she will. My goal is to figure out why some people see the questions and some don't.

bloomzie, you have become so helpful. God love you! ;) :)

Seems you're right, Erlene. The system automatically promotes based on votes, but I just spotted both Cathy's and another florist's intros (with older join dates) who were 'stuck'. They've both now been made full members. :)

I'm not sure, but Cathy R may not have a "great" internet feed...maybe a slow dial up as opposed to dsl or cable...will have to ask her!!
Gotta love those rural areas of Maine!! Especially those on the neighbor to the north borders!

I am still hoping Cathy will post again soon. I am interested in knowing more about her and the business. The challenges she has will certainly be different from those faced by city florists.
