I have just sat down with a bride and she wants something very traditional in her chosen colors. Her colors are ivory, pink and we are using the sahara rose as the main flower throughout. Any suggestions on the centerpieces which she has a budget of $35 per table. I'm trying to come up with a creative idea but my brain is not really working right now. This is the last on my proposal and I'm done. Can someone suggest a creative idea? Thanks!

Well, if she's traditional, I guess Artsy Fartsy is out the window! I would just keep it a low European-Style design in a glass vase. Not a bubble bowl though... I'm sick of those! Maybe a nice square glass vase? Or how about a breakaway centerpiece utilizing several different shapes and sizes of glass vases and maybe some silver mint julip cups, all accented with clusters of votive candles or pillar candles. (Hint let her buy the vases and candles herself and keep the whole $35 for the flowers...she'll think she's saving money!)

Sorry it's not thinking outside the box. Good Luck!

A pink hydrangea would give you a lot of bang for your bucks. That and a grouping of 3 Saharas and maybe a nice plump stem of white, er excuse me IVORY spray roses and a few salal leaves in a simple glass vase would be nice - not exciting but a traditional bride might just love it. You could also shelter the flowers w/a bit of beargrass for a somewhat different look but not too crazy...

The traditional colors are definitely back in. My current fave thing is the deconstructed look with stacking vases. Probably not her style, but I would use cube vases and line the interior with four roses in one, a hydrangea in another that kind of idea. Quick to design and cuts down on greening time.

it's hard to say w/o knowing your stem cost, vase cost, etc. Also would be helpful to know what other flowers are in the wedding.....

Is your bride buying her containers from you, renting from you, or bringing in her own. If you have a large amount of containers, renting does help with the cost.
If it is a smaller container, such as a small cube vase, you could do grouping of flowers. Say, one peony, 2 or 3 sahara roses and an inexpensive accent flower. If she wants foliage added you could just use the foliage from the peony, which looks great and you don't have any extra cost.

$35 per centerpiece? wow....our minimum is way more than that....when we have a bride with such a low budget....we have them only put centerpieces on half or less of
the tables, and let us do a $70-$75 arrangement on them....they can use votives, rose
petals on the others,etc.....that way we don't compromise our design standards (if you will)...OR we work with them to cut down the # of tables....most venues way oversell tables needed if it is not a seated dinner.
