We were at J's show in Portland, Oregon this last weekend and he mentioned a shop that carried charm bracelets.

Every prom, homecoming, formal etc the shop carried "commemorative" charms that were sold as a keepsake and added into the wrist corsage. Not sure if they were customized or as simple as footballs and pompoms for homecoming, 08's and themed pieces for prom, etc.

Does anyone else do this? If so, would you mind sharing your source for the charms and bracelets?

Thanks in advance!

we did this about 4 years ago. I bought from an online co.www.bluemud.com
you have to buy in quantity but the prices are pretty good. butterflys, hearts and the year charms were the most popular. I think I had 6 different designs and that was all. The kids/moms liked these really well.

I know what you mean! It seems like whatever we introduce as the "new" thing is completely and enthusiastically adopted by the teens. But try to repeat it -- none of them want anything to do with it. Happened with bracelets, streamers, blue roses, etc etc.

I guess I was thinking that the girls might complete a collection of charms for a charm bracelet from all their high school dances.

Maybe we just need to cycle back through all these ideas so they're "new" every 3 or 4 years, for the new crop of kids. Kind of like how Cabbage Patch kids, Strawberry Shortcake, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are "new" again after a short rest...

There is a shop in Milwaukee, Wi that wholesales the charms. Speak to Denise at 414-327-0551.

By the way, I spoke to this shop. She said that she does not usually sell the charms wholesale by themselves. She normally sells garter sets for the guys, and does sell these wholesale with the charms included. (I think.)

I told her about flowerchat and invited her to comment. She said she would give some thought to selling the charms wholesale and that they are a good business for her.

Just thought I'd report!

Attaching the Charms...

Hey It's J...

You attach the Charms with the Decorative wire... or I also use the Deco Jewelry from Berwick Offray...and just place the charm between the beads using the decorative wire...in a color that matches the corsage or jewelry!

It's very secure and decorative!

TWILA... Always Ask... there are NO Stupid questions... NEVER!

You gotta ask to find out the answer... I asked about the RIBBON PRINTER... AND you got me some great information and examples...
Happy to return the favour!

HAPPY Charming...

OH... another hint... Let your kids or High School age customers help you pick out the charm for this year...
Make it a contest...let them vote ... etc...

They will help you decide what you can SELL... remember they will pick something completely differently from us "vintage" folks!

Keep having fun with flowers!

I've gotten charms from stores that have beading supplies like Michaels or AC Moore. In fact, I got some heart charms and attached them to vases to use as substitutes for Americas Favorite Mom. (We ran out of that vase the week before mother's day!) Oriental Trading has a beading catalog too. I hate to buy retail but a lot of times the wholesalers require you to buy bulk when you only need a couple of an item.

Charms

I know this post is long over due! So sorry! I attended the AIFD Symposium & had a table at the vendor picnic. Someone told us that some florists on Flower chat were trying to find charms. Please check out my website! My patented spiral that the charm attaches to is pre-formed & SO fast & easy to put on the rose. It also increases the vase life and allows the rose to dry up-right in the vase. Please let me know if any of you are interested in more information. Homecoming is just around the corner!
