Well, The new chat software platform worked well........for what it is........which is a basic, no-frills, java based chat. Only one 'bug' reared it's head last evening while pfmflowermarket and I were chatting. This seems to happen in most any chat platform I have used.......from the old WEBTV chatrooms to Talkcity to Flashchat to now......and that is the 'boot'. For some reason, the software logs out a chatter, often times in the middle of a chat, for no apparent reason. If the chat were a moderated platform.......like Talkcity chats used to be, then the moderator controlled who got 'booted' out of the room.
Those who liked the options to 'personalize' Flashchat don't have the options with this platform that they had. I could not find an option that let you change the background to anything but a default white. There did not appear to be an option to change the color of your text as the default colors are black for the text and blue for the user name. You can still bolden the text and choose a font typeface however. The avatars that spun around, wiggled in some way, and the little smileys are not in this chat platform.
Now, unlike Flashchat, this new platform does NOT appear to have any type of 'censoring' as I typed some rather off-color words in various fonts, combinations, varied spellings, and the like just to test and everything appeared just as I had typed it.
I will say that this particular chat platform software seems to work best when the user has a hi-speed, broadband type connection, like a DSL connection......it appears that a slower or a dial-up connection sees more problems.
Overall, for what it is and what it is designed to do, the new chat software platform did very well.
