As I sit here at home still in my PJ's on my last day off until Christmas, I'm trying to make myself drag down the decorations and I'm seriously considering skipping the whole thing this year for the first time ever. I'm not home to enjoy them and this year we are going other places on Christmas Eve and Christmas day so nobody will really see them anyway. Do all you florists go all out decorating your own homes like I used to or are there some like me that are tired of the extra work during the busiest time of the year? Just curious!

My kids always complained I didn't decorate more...but they never helped out either. This year I tried to manipulate my husband into a live tree ( he's a retired fire inspector). I lost and yet when I said this year maybe I won't bother with a tree he was really annoyed and said now I'm turning into his brother (#1 scrooge).

I don't think my husband would notice or care either way. I just hope if I skip it, I won't regret it for myself when Christmas arrives.

Honestly if I did not have small kids at home I would not do what I do. I would probably have to have a little table top tree for hubby or he would be sad. I'm fine with the decorations at the shop. Honestly I would rather not come home to it. I get sick of seeing it! Maybe I would be in the spirit longer if it was not all around me all the time :)

I haven't decorated one little bit since my youngest daughter started having the family gatherings at her house a few years ago. I don't miss it at all; (no live trees here, hubby hated it the one year I had one.) It also means that what doesn't get hauled up from the basement and unpacked doesn't have to get packed and hauled back down! :) I imagine if I'm ever blessed with any grandchildren I will do some decorating again.

Until then ~ just call me Scrooge.

I used to love to decorate for the Christmas season....until I got into the floral industry. I now loathe to decorate. My extend of decorating is a live wreath, a simple mixed evergreen arrangement for my coffee table and 2 deer that stand on my porch. That's it.

I probably should decorate more, after all, I am a "designer" (LOL) but I do so much of that at the shop, I don't even want to think about it at home; my sanctuary!

Maybe if I thought it would bring in more business, I might be more motivated! LOL

I've done very little at home this year. Between decorating the shop, two banks and an historic cottage, I am just done with decorating! My Mom came home from the nursing home after being in the nursing home 72 days and the hospital 5 days before that so any energy I might have has gone into organizing her care.... think it is going to be a bleak Christmas this year... decoration wise anyway!

I actually love decorations but don't put much up at my house. My 15 year old asked me the other day, "Mom, how come we don't ever put up very many Christmas decorations?" I told her that after decorating 3-5 trees in each of 5 stores, several customers trees, usually a couple of fundraiser trees, our corporate office....should I go on? I just can't seem to find it in me to go overboard at home. We have a tree (go out and cut a Charlie Brown type) a wreath on the front door, a poinsettia plant and maybe a big pot of mixed greens and winterberry. We just put our tree up tonight. My 10 year old was actually crying last night because we didn't have a tree yet! I just don't have time. I have barely begun my Christmas shopping-yikes!
