I have to do 3 centerpieces for tomorrow. Ordered Saraha Roses, came in 40cm, so, of course, I have large cylinder vases, the bride wanted hydrangeas around the top of the cylinder and the sahara roses coming out of vase, well, since they came in so short, now I have a problem getting the height. First I thought, Lomey Dish, but worried about Hydrangeas in foam, so taped a grid, did hydrangeas, roses still not working, then took Iglu, affixed to tape grid, but still not sturdy enough, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!!!!

I don't know how wide your opening is on the cylinder vase but is there another clear vase that would fit comfortably inside the cylinder one that isn't as high? It might even create a nice look? Put the short stemmed roses in the shorter vase and insert inside the cylinder?

Would tubing the hydrangea with a humongo watertube work? Then you could stick that in the foam.

Or, what if you put some decorative stones or marbles in the bottom of the cylinder to raise everything up?

Not knowing the heigth of the cylinders, could you do a hand tied design with the saharas, work in some willow or such with stems long enought to support in the vase, work your hydrangea around the base, the stems of the hydrangea and willow would support the roses. As long as the rose stems were in the water, they shoudl be fine and the hydrangea stems along with willow or another sturdy stem would support the design. The result should give the illusion of all stems coming cleanly out of the vase, no tubes or foam etc to disguise.

I agree

But, its funny, I was having the issues with the flowers, so I just let it go, just got a call for a Bridal bouquet for Saturday, real simple, she wants just roses, read about some called Sahara, did I have those? YOU BET!!!! The Floral gods were looking out for me!

oh man, I got into the conversation too late, but what the heck, I would handtie the 40 cm roses, and use bunch of other stems, line them around the handtied bouquet as stem extentions, use decorative wires to tie/hide the attaching part, and there you have it, 60, 70, or 80 cm rose look in the vase.
