How were you referred? By another florist

What do you feel you can contribute? Getting the word out for our education center and other services that we hope to better the industry with.

Hi Everyone,

Didn't know that when I was filing out registration that my info would be posted as my first thread. Probably why it's not in the best format..

Anyways, I will formally introduce myself now I guess,

My name is Colin Gilliam, I am Hitomi Gilliam's son... and I am President of a new company 'Design358', that includes a team composed of my mom (our Creative and Educational Director) and several other AIFD Designers

Debbie Alvarez AIFD
Tony Alvarez
Deb Di Bella AIFD
Nitaya Emig AIFD
Scott Hasty AIFD
Lois Hiranaga AIFD
Paul Jaras AIFD
Susanne Law AIFD
Yukari Mitsui
Lottie Nys AIFD
Brooke Raulerson
Donald Yim AIFD
Kevin Ylvisaker AIFD

That rounds up our team of Designers....

What Does Design358 do? Well a number of things, first of all.. we are a floral event + management company based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. We use our team of designers to provide what we believe is an extremely proficient and experienced team to any job that we encounter. Since the company has started in January of this year, we have had the chance to work on several jobs across North America, with several other plans currently in the works. We also sell all of Hitomi Gilliam's book offerings, promote her workshops and classes, and take requests for shows or programs involving her or any one else on our team.

But what we are really excited about at the moment is the Spring 2009 opening of the 'Design358 Center for Professional Floral Education', where we will offer an intensive and well rounded education program and certification process headed by Hitomi herself. We are currently finalizing the curriculum and complete information as well as registration should be up by the first week of October.

Anyways, that should cover most of it... please make sure to visit our website, www.design358.com - where I also post a blog with the latest news involving Design358 or Hitomi

Thanks,

Colin Gilliam, Design358

Welcome to Flower Chat, Colin.

Beautiful photography that you did for your website.

You are making me feel really old!

Welcome Colin.
The last time your Mom and I talked about you, you were very interested in professional golf. Are you still golfing?

Tell you Mother hello for me and that she is lucky to have you on her side.

Welcome - I saw your mother at Sieck Wholesale in Hightstown, NJ. You'll see photos of that event somewhere on here, as I wanted to share some of the fab ideas shown. She spoke about your venture ... I hope you will contribute freely and often!

Hi Carol...

Yeah I'm still golfing and played in a couple of professional events this summer, but what it comes down to is professional golf is extremely difficult amd financially draining if you don't play well, especially with getting the sponsorships and investors to be able to travel as much as you need to. I will continue to play as many tournaments as I feel I can, but I just couldn't pass up on an opportunity like this venture that me and my mom talked about last year. Some very exciting things we are looking at doing... so I guess, I'm going to try and do both as best I can, but it looks more and more like I'm headed into this industry full time.

Welcome to the community Colin and say hello to Hitomi for me.
I had an oppurtunity to work with Hitomi at Teleflora Live , last year.
You will soon find that there are many fans of Hitomi, who are members here.
Best of luck with the new venture.
Again, welcome to the community.

I have always known you would do great things in life. You are about to prove it. Best of luck in this exciting adventure.

I saw Scott Hasty last night. In his quiet, humble way he was just bursting with pride. Glad to see a great Southern gentleman in the mix!
