I was just wondering if most of you are seeing and experiencing the same things I am with weddings for 2009.

Bridesmaids dress in reds, from orange-reds to burgundy, Aquas in all shades from light to dark, corals and blacks.

I don't think I have had any brides that are using softer pastel colors.

Some bouquets are very simple, some are over the top with crystals and beading or feathers. Either simlpe short handles or very ornate. I think there may be more girls asking for an updated version of the cascade than we saw this year. There does not seem to be anything in between.

Again they are coming in with pic's of very expensive flowers with a very limited budget.

I haven't really seen a change in flowers, just a different look from 2008. What do you think will be the hottest flowers for bridal bouquets next year? Or rather what do you see the trend being?

I am seeing the same thing. Champaign taste on kool-aid budgets. the Mags out now show great designs.. and the brides love them but do not want to pay that price. I also am seeing dark colors and the same ol same ol. If I see brown anymore I will puke lOL I do a lot of hand ties I do have a small casscade to do the end of the month. I think it's the first one all season. I am trying to think of new things to display at my bridal show in Jan. But Mi. is soo far behind the times anything I do looks fresh and trendy!! LOL.. 09 looks to be the same. One thing I am seeing is brides shopping early ;)

Shopping early is an understatement!! Got them booked for July 09 already. Been seeing alot more cascade style again. Darker dress colors but paler bouq colors. Getting back to mixed bouqs also.

I also have Sept. 09 and oct.09 bookings all ready. I never get that far ahead! wonder if it has to do with the add I ran.. Book now lock in 08 prices??LOL

In 2009, I'm seeing lots of pink and lots of green (but not mixed together). The green brides want really unique green and white flowers and are being very adventurous with non floral accents like twigs, ferns, pods. The pink brides are looking for the classic hydras, peonies, cyms and roses.

I've had a lot of "no roses anywhere" brides. Very few white bridal bouquets. Lots of brides who want something that has never been seen before as in the flowers used, color combos or style of flowers.

I'm also seeing a lot of jewel tones like teal, eggplant, crimson, gold and deep green.

Lots of crystals and lots of branches.

I also have a lot of brides who bring in Preston Bailey style centerpieces and want to have them done for $75. It's really a struggle to bring some of them down to budget when they start off thinking so grand.

Oh and they are definitely booking early! I have 10 booked in May alone and I might only take one or two more before I close off the month. I feel like most of my time is spent sitting in consultations lately and we are still in peak 2008 season. I'm looking forward to catching up in November.

I also wanted to add that my fall 09 brides still want to incorporate a fall feel without using traditional fall colors and flowers. For example, I have one bride that is using really deep indigo for the dresses who is bringing in deep colors like crimson, green and purple and items like grapes, artichokes, kale, etc.

I'm starting to feel like the traditional fall wedding look with pumpkins, sunflowers, red, orange and yellow will become a dated look.

That sounds gorgeous!

ahhh, you guys are stilling my thunder!!! I thought my rep was growing and that is why I was getting a lot of consults for 09 and getting some BOOKED weddings as well!

I guess it's just the trend right now, you all are seeing an increase in this. I have never booked a year in advance (met with a bride here and there, but never booked) I guess my rep is more than likely right where I thought it was and not growing as much as I thought.

Geez thanks guys! LOL.

Are you guys seeing much yellow? It seems like I am seeing it in the magazines paired with grey tones, but I have yet to have a bride that wants it. I am doing a wedding show next month and I would like to have "cutting edge" color combos.
I agree with you Tracy, I am DONE with brown!!

OMG...I love those colors.
But, unfortunately most of my 09' brides are chimimg in with blue, ivory and green -- it's the ocean thing we've got going on here and I just want to snap. Another year of blue hydrangeas...whoa is me...

I had one that was yellow gerbs, white cymbidium orchids, white callas, hydrangea tinted a pale teal. That color combo was one on the prettiest I have done against the dark teal dresses.

Bright white and pink here... I have also had to resend quotes because they have to cut their budgets.... Not sure how it will pan out in the end.
