Who would be interested in a site clinic conference call?

This would take place on a weekday, likely 9am pacific, 12pm eastern, and last for 1 hour.

Participants would be asked to submit their sites in advance of the call for critique and review. It can be humbling, but also quite beneficial. We just ask that if you submit a site for review, please do remember to participate in the call as well :)

I already know the faults with mine (one being the webmaster of it) but am so meaning to get my own up and going.....the domain which is held by your associate....

Uhm, who in the world would say no!? I know my site needs some work but, it's overwhelming at best. A list of things to check off would be wonderful :)

This would be wonderful....and a much needed tool.

I have been struggling with our new site as It was being created before I arrived. It is back in development but when I go live again I would love to have an unbiased critique!

No date, yet - we're just gauging interest.

The reviews will be done live on the call by Jim & myself. We'll focus on 1-2 concerns from each person so that we can cover a few different people. If time permits we'll take questions live as well.

Some people just like their website their way. Not being a professional web designer doesn't mean you cannot create a successful website and get a lot of business. If that was the case then I'm srue a lot of people here would be out of work right now. With that said, and I do not meant to offend you Strider Inc., but no matter how many companies make your design for your website, there'll always be another company to come behind them and tell you "you can do this and you can do that" but sometimes, its not needed and won't get you anymore business than you're getting now. Just a thought. Hope I didn't rattle anyone's cage :ssmoke

No ... but a website represents your company to a large audience. More people will see your website than will see your flowers ... I'm assuming your floral designs look professionally designed. Shouldn't the rest of your business portray the same level of professionalism and dedication to quality? Do your designs look dated or contemporary?

All I'm saying is: Don't sell yourself short to save a few $$$ (Anyone remember those awful DIY business cards from Avery that would still have the perforated edge when you were handing them out?)

Our reviews will cover anything from usability (Why doesn't my traffic convert?) to SEO (Why don't I have any traffic?).

I love my website and I designed/built and maintain it all by myself. But, with that said, I KNOW that there are things that a professional web designer could see that I would always over look. I care more about the look of the site than the actual content which = results. I don't think you rattled anyone's cage but- I will say that a second or third set of eyes is always needed with anything you do.

It's when you think that you can't learn anymore that you are replaced by something more current/customer friendly. I always evolve and pray that my competition already thinks they are "good enough".

Anyway, just my .02.

sounds good to me

this might be what i need to make the cut from the cookie cutter site

sometimes I just do not have time for the maintenance if i change
or I might get too involved and start ignoring other areas I need to stay focused on

i gues what I am saying is change is hard to do....

Sometimes change is good, but don't go too overboard. What I'm saying is, its nice to have flash and the fancy menus but don't do it too much because a lot of people gets irritated and a lot of little devices do not have flash built in so they will not see half the website. Also, it gets too confusing for people and a lot of people just click out of your website. I know I'm not Strider Inc but then again, that is just my opinion to people who may think fancier websites will get you lots of customers. Keep it elegant, yet simple for your customers to navigate and at the same time, give them the impression that you're a professional florist and you didn't just get a high school kid to make your website.

lol

I love that you keep referring to us ...

I also love that you assume professional = fancy, busy & lots of flash

We're an SEO firm -> Flash is the enemy (Not quite evil, but to be used sparingly)

Be professional design, I mean a site that looks like it was designed within the past 2 years, and one that follows the best practises of SEO to rank well.

If I never have to touch another flash object, I'll be ok with that :)

Simple....too much Flash. Your main page has no words so it's not coming up in google search. Remember, search engine cannot read flash. Look up any florist who's using a teleflora template and you'll see in the bottom, tons of wordings, zip codes, cities, places they deliver to. Search engines read that and if someone's looking for "flower shop" then it'd catch it and show as result. Now if ur not wanting to give up your flash then use pay per click and pay enough so you can be in higher rank so people see you.

Thanks Ryan but that statement didn't have to do with you or Strider. I was just giving him my opinion about making his website or anyone else's website successful. And go read that statement again, I said, while its good to have flash menu, not to overdo it. I never said "add lots and lots of flash, flash this and flash that....." LOL You should read my previous statement again.

My Dearest Darlin,

You are such a wonderful person to do this, and for all that you do,,,,Hugs to you....

The Queen has spoken,,,have a great and glorious day...

Ryan - I totally agree with Queen. You are a saint to simply offer this service. I would jump on board instantly except I put my site out for critique last week on FC. I received great advice including a reply from you. My site would be a bore to review again...
