Randy, congratulations and best wishes!

Randy... Congrats!

You keeping "Da Skin" on staff?

Oh...and look out... that RTI system is a wiring nightmare ;)

Nope, no RTI.

Congrats Randy!!! You continue to march through Ohio...good for you! Always a southern location available to you when you want to escape the cold! lol
Good luck to the new adventure...Skin was highly respected which makes his sale to you even more so,
Sher

I miss having Skin around here but alas, he was one of the ones who thought these boards to be a waste of time....he certainly is a helpful dude and I wish him well in his retirement. He is the one who told me a long time ago to quit b1tching about OG's and try to do it better than them, fight them for the orders. He said - JB you're not gonna change the world - do something about it.

It was one of those slap myself on the forehead DUH moments. Changed my world.

Recently he helped me greatly in getting more sympathy business. Glad to count him as a friend.

Great aquisition Randy! Combination of two powerhouses.

OK guys....is this REALLY a good thing??
It's great for Randy, but, is this another sign of consolidation in the industry, or is it truly a remarkable feat??
Don't get me wrong...I'm just as excited for him, but......

Take care of my mothers arrangements sir!!

Thats who I always use to send my moms flowers!!!!

How'd you do that? Skin is a smart cookie - he was an FTD member with no mercury.

I try to stop by every day or so and read all the posts, and I totally missed this thread until now.

Thanks for all the comments!

My friend, Greg Skinner, commonly known as sKin, called me out of the blue in early July asking if I had any spare money. I jokingly asked why and if he needed to borrow some. He said no, that he wanted to sell his shop, Roxainne’s Florist. I told him normally I’m NEVER interested in buying another florist, but in Roxainne’s case, of course I’d be interested, as Roxainne’s is a high quality professionally run business that closely matched my business.

I asked sKin why he wanted to sell and he replied that he has worked very hard long hours for the last 30 years and has done extremely well for himself, and now it was time for him to spend more time with his family. So, with high mutual respect for each other we were able put a deal together in 10 days.

Skin continues to work for me, but only on a very part time bases and only as our PR man, which is what he loves to do, visit with people without the burden of the daily grind the flower industry often is.

As for whether we can pull this off, I think we can. The transition has been remarkably smooth, and with support from Oberer’s in Dayton, the new Oberer’s Columbus has already seen some remarkable growth. I think our companies are a good match and as a team we will give Connells-Maple Lee Florists (Ken Royer’s) a run for their money.

Thanks for all the kind remarks

RC in Dayton, Cincinnati and now Columbus

sKin switched from FTD only to Teleflora only about 3-4 years ago. He, like me, believes the prime purpose of a wire service is the ability to send orders, not receive them.
If his shop was a big incoming florist I would have never been interested. Going forward we will be FTD only.

And - you will have the technology steamroll the competition!

THAT's very interesting Randy..."Going Forward, AND FTD Only" in the same sentence!!
It's not often we've heard that...not often at all!:thumbsup
