Consumer Report news release including ProFlowers

Has anyone heard about this current news release?
A person told me he heard on our local radio station this morning that Consumers Report is saying that ProFlowers has the best quality roses.

I have not heard it, have asked for a copy. My guess is that this just covers the national direct shippers, but am not sure. Wondering who they are compared against.

I took CHR's post on national rose prices, put it on a spread sheet and compared to our [local] prices. Quite a revalation.

I know I keep hearing on the radio ads to make sure order from proflowers instead of amateur flowers.

I heard 'Wall Street Journal's Pick' and 'less handlers'. Now more 'fresh from the fields' but it's already imbedded in consumer's minds.

Guess we should add this quote to some marketing and make some lemonade!

My friend/customer heard this and his report was that ProFlowers had the best quality. He did not remember the last paragraph.

All brick & mortar florists have a ton of Consumer Educating to do. We need to be persistant and constant in our efforts.

What information is aired or printed needs carefull attention because one does not know what the consumer hears and reads from any story.

Here is the story that ran in on 9News/NBC in Denver this week. Unfortunately Pro-flowers got a real nice plug. However, at the end of the news story, the 9news anchor did state that they recommend to find a local florist that you can trust. http://www.9news.com/money/consumer/article.aspx?storyid=63944

Last week I had channel 7 news in Denver come into my shop and do a news story on avoiding the fake florist flower scams. It is going to air on Feb 11th right before Valentine's day. Hopefully they don't modify the tape too much because I really encouraged the consumers to check out floristdetective.com before they order flowers.
