I have been chatting with a florist in Turkey, yes, Turkey, the country. It is a labored process as I have to use an online translator to understand and speak, but it is interesting. I have received permission to show you some photos of decorated automobiles. Apparently from my poor Turkish tongue this is very common for weddings. I would love to find another opportunity to sell flowers and love this! How practical would it be? Could it be done?

I did this for my daughter's wedding. several years ago.

A couple of people had me do it for their weddings after that. A good moneymaker.

You just have to show pictures and suggest it.

Looks similar to doing arrangements for homecoming cars. We used a John Henry sm2000 to make them. Then you would take tulle (or something that won't scratch the car) and thread it through the hooks that hold the foam in. After it's designed, you can take each end and tie them to the hood at the top.

For smaller arrangements (and a more flat, drapy look), we have also used a cardboard base, with a presentation style bouquet placed on top and then tied.

Be very careful when dealing with someone's car. One ding, scratch, or discoloration and it's goodbye money.

If I could sell the idea, I might have to check with my insurance company about coverage for this sort of thing. Also, would it be possible to have a waiver signed by the customer that I can't be held liable for damage?

About a year after I opened I had a request to decorate a pickup truck, because it was the custom for the Mexican bride to ride in a flower decorated donkey cart to the wedding. I did a hood piece with a suction oasis cage and used two oasis cages hanging from the side mirrors anchored as best I could. She was very pleased, but I don't know how she got to the church which was 5 miles away on the interstate.

We did this for a car dealer's grand opening a couple years ago, but not as fancy as that photo (no photo of our work - dang!). We used the JH SM2000, and had made a few smaller "satillite" designs for the car. Did those in Lomey's with a terry cloth towell under each design.

Looking back, I would get some kind of damage waiver signed...can't trust anyone these days...

Yeah I've seen these used extensively in Europe <Holland and Germany mainly .On holiday in Cologne Germany recently our hotel was near the Town Hall .There were loads of weddings every day so as usual I was fascinated watching the flowers ,decor etc .All the cars had these hood corsage arrangements ,they were gorgeous .Metz have the bases in stock but there is no takeup here in Ireland .The recession is running very deep here now so I dont expect that to change any time soon .Pity cos I love them .
