SO we have florist saying we should pull the merc, dove Fiday before Valentines day. I personally don't get too many orders from merc or dove during this holiday. However it would create some problems for those orders gatherer. but I am wondering if the Thurs before mother's day would be more advantageous to crippling the whole system and putting it in chaos.
So what do you think? Should we do it and when. Please vote and see what happens.

Well Luc....

Since I was the one who said to make a stance of shutting down the Merc/Duck during Feb 11th-14th 2005, you might have something about Mothers Day 2005 too but let's take one OG Holiday at a time because you know Luc, Valentines Day is on a MONDAY in 2005 and the SYSTEM IS PRIME FOR MELTDOWN!.

If I was still connected with the "club" I would suspend the system and take the $1.00 or two dollar hit on the statement for the "suspension or stop message". Funny thing is, if a member sends this message they can STILL SEND!.

C'mon automated OG SOFTWARE!.

Sure shutting down your Merc./Dove will hurt the OG, but has anyone considered that it will also hurt real florists trying to send their customers' orders out? Not to mention how many customers it will drive away from sending flowers ever again because of the un-riliability of the sending system? This would be a risky move, in my opinion, and it might put some small OGs out of business but not Proflowers or 800-Flowers. Worse yet, they might start looking for ways to ensure that something like that will not happen ever again.

Valid point's George....

But considering that Valentines is NOT a major floral transmission holiday, I think the few wire outs for VD could be done the old fashioned way on the telephone and it would not cause much more than a bump in the daily routine for a few days...

Should not affect consumers at all...

And lastly, no it would have little effect on 800F because of their LFC model and that 80% of their orders are filled this way, but it would stop ProF the last few days once they pass the cut off for Fed/Ex shipments Saturday or Sunday. I am sure they have Fed/Ex lined up to whisk the flowers away as the loads are ready, but many folks work on Monday thus those orders left on the home door steps in vast parts of the country will be frozen upon arrival...

As to it not happening again...thats MY GOAL, to remove them from OUR Same-Day-Delivery-Function that only a Real Florist can do!
