Hi everyone! I have been away from FC for awhile taking good care of my Hubby who has been going through a very bad episode of his Crohn's disease.
He is doing great now and getting ready to start a new round of treatment. He will be taking a drug called Cymzia. I hope this medicine will put him in remission for a very long time!
I have just been exhausted and really not in the mood for anything "social". But I am feeling better too and am so glad to come back to FlowerChat! I am glad there are still some memorable names here!!!
I hope everyone here had a wonderful holiday season! And V-day too!!!:spin

welcome back. After 4 almost 5 years, one of my former designers is finally feeling good after bout after bout with Crohn's. She now has a permanent stoma (she's 4' 9" tall and weighs maybe 89 lbs)
After medicine after new medicine, after cancer drugs, after new medicine, she's finally able to leave her home (or bathroom) for hours at a time. I pray your hubby has a swift recovery, gets on a diet routine and can control the Crohn's.......

A good friend of mine died in 1971 from Chron's.

I was diagnosed with Chron's in 1972.... been there, done it all... 3 bowl resections, shots, pills...the kitchen sink....

How old is your husband?

You are both in my prayers today. I know very well how hard this is to deal with.

Thank you!,

My Husband is 48 and is lucky that he has not yet had surgery, yet sometimes surgery seems like a great idea! He was finally diagnosed with Crohn's about five years ago. It took about three years for him to get a correct diagnosis. What an ordeal. I am lucky that he has a great sense of humor, he can find something funny about any situation!
Before he was diagnosed I had never heard of Crohn's and now it seems like just about everyone I know is affected by it in some way.

Surgery, if it comes to that is an amazing improvement. At least it was in my case, all 3 times. A lot depends on what part of the colon is affected and how badly.

I have only about 1/3 of the normal amount of intestines left, possibly could do one more surgery if I needed to. Bu generally it goes into remission the older you get, and I have been symptom free for years now, and it got a lot better when I stopped drinking.

I'm sure they have given him the lectures on foods to avoid, and all that....

you are lucky, my little D had two surgerys taking two pieces out and then had everything taken from stomach down. She is way too young for that (early 40's)....But as I said she's finally doing well.
