It works for mine. Perhaps its because this computer is still using internet explore 6.5. I havent tried it at home.

Try it again here

You should be able to go to google maps and one of the tabs will read My Maps. You will need to have a google account to create your custom maps.

It works fine for me, with IE7.

Hmmmm should we start to creat our own Flower Chat Map!!!
A "Real Florist Map" ?? What a concept!!

Kewl beans!

I think if you make a public map, you can have multiple editors? Not sure, no time to play with it til next week...

Easter is cranking here :)

I was trying to figure out why you screen shot looks like that. I noticed that if you click on the link and lets say your window opens at half size then you only see that much of the map even when you full screen the window. You can resolve this by refreshing the page once you have gone to full screen.

This may need a little fix needed by google unless someone can see a fix within the URL.

Just answered my own question.

This link should work better!

Should be intresting to see what this can do for your business!!!

Thanks you for the tip. Add it to another thing I have learned on flower chat. I have made a map similar to yours for my area and linked to it from my home page. Eric could you elaborate on the quote.

Good job....

Still trying to find the link to make one ;(

I see the Google maps zoom much better than they used to, similar to Google Earth, very nice.

Since the maps can be made public perhaps they will show up on the search engines? Google is really doing some crazy things. I just started using the google mapping software for my PDA (Yea I had to Get one!!!) very cool. Nothing like locating a business with your PDA clicking on the information link and next thing you know your connecting to the business via website or even direct calling.

Its a great way to provide all of the information to your customers instead of them going to another website to get the address information when ordering on the website. I have experiminted with the google API maps that required more time to create the exact same map.

Again it just a great way to add a little something your own website to help consumers out. Using the edit tools makes it very easy whether you have HTML knowlege or just want to cut and past information.

Mark perhaps you haven't created a google account? It shouldn't matter The tab should be right there (Labeled My Maps NEW) when you go to google maps

Thanks Eric... I was reading right by the *create new*....sorry

I get the Dunce award this week ;)

According to Google "Google My Maps WILL be included in searches"

Now I just have to figure out how to build it....and they will come...right?

I wonder if by adding URLs into the place markers if that will help too????

If I can figure it out so can you. I only needed a little help from my Teenage Daughter:) When you create the map you can edit your place marker. I added my logo, tag line and 800 number

I'm getting there, see if THIS URL shows you my map.

It's nice that they included a Rich Text Editor, you can add URLs and almost anything it looks like....have to try my logo...

Wierd,

I did a Google search for my store, and when it came up I clicked on the map link (old one) and it showed my listing, edited map that has my store pic in it.

Odd thing is, when I went back to MYMap in Google, the place marker was also on the map I made, so now there are two, one with a pic and one without....Hmmmmm

Eric,
Thank you sooo much. I just added my shop. I didn't know Google had a map section. Really appreciate the information.
Sharon

Mark when I open your map it doesn't show the markers? Did you add the markers in? Never mind they just appeared.
Looks real good!!!

I think if you add URLs it will help keep your map relevant for what users may be looking for. I would be careful about adding URLs to listings, say that went to your shop instead of the hospital URL! However I am sure OGS will be having a field day with this one.

This also works very well with my PDA. I am sure this will be very usefull for consumers. Now if someone here could help figure out how to add a link on your website that would automatically add your listing to their own custom map?

That would be very cool!!!!! Kinda like book mark your URL but instead bookmark on your custom google map! IF i can figure it out I will share!!

Local Business add from Google

This came from Google
LOCAL BUSINESS ADS

Additionally, I understand that you are interested in learning more about local business ads. To give you some context, local business ads are AdWords ads associated with a specific geographical location. They show on Google Maps with an enhanced map component, and in a text-only format on Google and other sites in our search network.

On Google Maps, each local business ad includes a map component. When users click on the ad title or on the map marker, an info window expands on the map to reveal additional information about the business. When users click on the URL in the ad or in the info window, they are redirected to the advertiser's website. To learn more about how local business ads appear on Google Maps, visit https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=34034&hl=en.

If you have additional questions, please reply to this email. I will be happy to assist you further. We look forward to providing you with the most effective advertising available.

The only add I see now in my city if for 800 flowers using there LFC from another city.
