While a massive 80% of the Dutch florists suggests the flower to be boring, antiquated and overly simple, customers completely disagree with the charge of old-fashionedness. They claim the flower to be simple and uncomplicated, yet simultaneously joyful.

Once again, we see the importance of supplying what customers want, not what our own tastes demand :)

The dutch are now strongly promoting chrysanthemums. Carnations went out of vogue but with the introduction of funky colours they are not quite as unpopular as they were. I still have alot of customers specifing no carnations, chrysanthemum or gypsophilia. I have customers saying no chrysanth though then pointing to chrysanth like stallion and feeling (poms) its the reagan type they hate more as they see it in cheap bunches in the petrol station with solidaster and statice in bright garish colours.
