Has anyone here made a Bridal Bouquet and Attendants bouquets using cymbids? They would be wired and put into a nosegay type bouquet.

They are not to be too big. How many did it take. I am guessing 15 to 18 for the Bride, 10 to 12 for the Attendants.

Any insights?

Doug

Doug,

My bridesmaids carried cymbid bouquets and I wired each individually. I used 14 in each bouquet, seven of each color. I thought I had a better picture but, this is the only one I've got on my computer. At least you can see the size.

Rene Van Rems uses a holder with chenille holding them in - they are in his book. He uses a smaller holder and it is awsome. Nice and petite.

I have wired and taped them into had tied bouquets.

This is a cymbidium and rose bouquet, I have 9 cymbs, I probably could fit 14 if no roses, This is in a exlarge wedding belle holder straight handle and has a collar of ostrich feathers...it was a good 18-22 inches across...with the collar

We have done petite versions - 6 blooms for approx 6" diameter bouquet. Hand wired & taped, no holder, fully wrapped stem. Also, little fuller 8", same amount of blooms, with hydrangea as "filler". Really easy to make ... can't find the photo of the smaller size we have done, this is the 8".

Thats how I do mine also Tracy, very easy to do.

Doug, your count seems good depending on the stature of the bride and her dress style. We wire and tape each orchid, create a large stem and shove all of those into a the large aquatubes that the orchids come in. It gives a larger handle. Just cover the tube with ribbon and youre done.

Doug I used 7 of each colour for the bride and 9 of all the one colour for the bridesmaid. Wired each of them individiually with no foliage and wrapped the wired stems in pretty pink ribbon.

Hope this helps...

those bouquets are gorgeous flame. Tracy, Lori, and felicity as well....all gorgeous bouquets

Heather, is that your wedding pic?? Cute!!!

I have done cymbid bouquets and I wired them, too. I used probably 15 or so for the bride in one case, and 10 or so for another, based on brides' size preference and sizes of blooms :)

The last one cym bouquet I did was my nieces. I used a silver tussy holder and inserted the ones I could directly in the oasis...then diapered and wired the rest to cowee pics . The pic is in the gallery

Here'S my take on it. (my little S doeS not work-have not had the time to take in the computer - Sorry)

USed one good Stem of large cymS. For the BM, uSed three StemS of miniS, Same for the FG pomander, . The bride wanted a woodSey look, with willow.

I cut the StemS on hand tieS once I get to the wedding. Leave them long and in water aS long aS poSSible.

My wonderful daughter SurpriSed me with a new puppy when I returned from SympoSium thiS year. The firSt week I waS home, the pup jumped up on the table while I waS ordering flowerS online. Spilled a cup of coffee onto the keyboard of my new Mac Pro - not happy. $1300 to repair (inSurance covered moSt). Now, the S iSn't working. Hopefully, will take it in today....

cyms without water or refrigeration

Another question regarding bouquets with cyms. A designer that is getting married next weekend is doing the flowers herself (making at the grooms parents house). We usually would make the bouquets Thu and refrigerate for a Sat wedding. The cyms are wired (no water source) and hold fine. The problem is that she will not have refrigeration. She will be in MD so temps should be approx 60-70 by day and 40-45 by night. The flowers will be in the garage. I told her to make them Friday and not Thu. Would you all agree?

Does the diaper/cowee pic thing really make a difference? I wouldn't think it would supply the orchid with enough water to really prevent wilting more than wiring and taping only??
