Hi and thank you for answering the questions on the into page.

I assume you are a registered business in your community (with business license and taxes etc.).

Are you taking any floral training as well?

Thanks for answering!

We are completely set up legally. We are owned by my parent company, The Hensley Group, LLC and registered as such in Indiana. We have applied for our DBA through the state. I also run my DJ busines through the LLC, Audio Infusion DJs. We place the utmost importance on customer satisfaction. Our prices are set toward the higher end of the spectrum. I am relying a lot on my designer's experience. Since I applied on here, I have come across an already established florist that I am looking into purchasing. I plan to take some classes in design in the future, but am leaving my wife to learn a lot of it with me only helping on big holidays.

No thank you. I'm not trying to D.J. either.

No website, no B&M location, no experience. Take some classes, find out what this business really cost in the way of time, and what you sacrifice in life to do it, then come back if your still interested.

You must have missed it. I have a website, www.heartfeltarrangements.com. My wife runs that business as the consultant and our designer of 15 years creates the arrangements. I am in the process of purchasing a large b&M business my area. I have done the research, but not being a designer shouldn't keep me from being a part of chat boards. I'm a police officer in my day job and my wife is just finishing her bachelor's in event Tourism, Convention and event management. I've been busting my butt for years to put together the moneyand my knowledge to create a business that will be what I retire into. I'm shocked that I would get a "no" vote for trying to learn every bit that I can from wherever I can. I guess I should also add that I have over 10 years experience in the wedding entertainment industry and that my wife worked at a flower shop for a while before deciding to do our own thing.

Thanks Dale for clarifying, filling in the gaps. It always helps to have the back story, as there are many who think that being a florist is all sweet smells, pretty flowers and the way to their first million :)

If your looking to retire in this business, take it from someone who's done it for over 30 years, pace yourself, hire help when you get big enough to need it and take time for yourself and family. Oh and one other thing, don't believe everything the sales reps. tell you. Questions...toss um out here, you'll get a variety of opinions. This business is much harder than it appears. As I recall we had a Fireman and his wife start a shop several years ago...anyone know what happened to them??

Yes its hard, so smell the roses along the way as you grow too.

Welcome. I look forward to hearing from you and learning from you as well. Good luck in your venture!
