My community is approximately 9 miles south of the Gerald Ford international airport in Grand Rapids (GRR). Tonight Pres Obama is speaking at Kalamazoo Central HS graduation and he just flew into GRR transfered into his helicopter and then flew down to Kalamazoo.

Well all afternoons been pretty quiet and I am figuring I will be able to stand outside the door watch Air force 1 land and then the helicopters fly back going south to Kzoo.

Well crap, steady customers and phone calls since 3 pm and missed the whole deal. :(

No problem, no confusion

thing is 4 calls telemarketers for CC processing, the rest weren't orders either, just some general how do I care for this plant I just bought at Wally stuff or what are your hours etc and a wrap up meeting on last weeks charitable contribution job and vase returns from the weekend wedding. So no money went in the cash register for any of it.

Kristine I'm sorry you missed an opportunity to see the President. It's always a kick to be present at things like that. I remember in a long ago time seeing the Queen and Prince Philip. Mind you I'm so not a royalist, but still it was fun to be part of the fray.

In reading the local news this am, so many people in the area poo poood his coming to speak to Kzoo central HS. I don't really care for most politicians and have disagreed with the last 6 presidents on a lot of issues, but having a president speak at your graduation is something you will never forget. In this era of instant news etc, I think we get jaded about what goes on around us.

We stood on our porch last evening at dusk and watched the 5 Helicopters fly back from Kzoo and then watched AF1 fly back over our house on it's way back to DC. My daughter who graduated HS last week, mentioned that she thought the whole thing was way cool (as she was peering thru binoculars to check out the helicopters in closer detail. I am glad some thought it was something.

Oh and this am my plant vendor was here delivering and he services Kzoo on Monday. He drove by the airport and saw the plane that brought the armored cars and the 4 helicopters plus M1 used for transport. He said they were the most impressive pieces of machinery he has ever seen - way bigger than you can imagine....

Way cool. My daughter, son, and my employee here at the shop saw him during the campaign. We were a swing state and he visited several times. Not the same as a sitting pres but still something they will never forget.
