I was doing some grocery shopping last night and was about to check out when I perused the flower section and saw the neatest looking cut foliage for sale. It was very reminiscent of rose leaves but had the color of almost a magnolia leaf. The leaves were dark reddish, brownish, wine foliage. The foliage on the stem was laid out similar to israeli ruscus. Wish I had taken a picture of it. Any ideas from my description of what it could be? Any websites you could suggest that I look at for new cut foliage? Thank you and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Why not go back to the grocery store and ask them? Just a thought.

Yes, I know exactly what it is, one of my favorites, Photinia.

And yes, I know where to look at fab foliages... Steven and Sons Website in Arvada CO. In fact I think they have one of the best sites for looking at stuff. Actually I have learned my flowers and foliages because I would buy from them because they stocked such a large variety, and then when Randy would suggest something new and I'd say "What's that?!" He'd say- "There's a picture on the site"!
I Love that site!

I'm not too familiar with Photinia, but from doing some quick research it looks like it could be it. Looks to be many varieties of Photinia as well. I'm going to see if I can get a picture of it. I might just break down and buy some of it to play with. Thanks All!

I guess I forgot to mention that the grocery store was WALMART...haha don't know of much help they'd be.

Don't underestimate the knowledge of competition.

Thanks Shannon for the info.

BTW, Photinia is a very thirsty foliage. It will go limp, quickly, but if you keep it in water it stays crisp. Especially the tips, they can go limp quick, I do not reccomend it for wearables. If you need somthing that color I would say crimson myrtle would be good., but it's not shiny like photinia.

My favorite reddish foliage is Leucodendron Safari Sunset, great line "flower", last forever.
