I am a lifelong florist, the third generation in his family to pursue a career in the floral arts. I began working in shops as a child in New Mexico, and by the time I was 23 he was a shop consultant and troubleshooter in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.
I have studied both American and European design techniques, the latter at the pretigious International Floral Design School at the Boerma Instituut in Aalmeer. Created floral displays for the Wolftrap Foundation, the Smithsonian Institution, and the British Royal Family. He has designed and constructed floral displays for such events at the Chelsea Flower Show in London, England, and the opening of "The First Ladies Gowns at the Smithsonian" and permanent "American Encounters" exhibition.
I have owned retail floral shops on both coasts, and now, at the peak of my abilities, prefer to work more closely with clients in a studio setting, free from the distractions of a traditional retail shop. When I take on a commission, whether large or small, I am able to give it my undivided attention and personal care. No work goes out the door of the The David Rohr Floral Studio without my personal approval.
