We are doing more & more cascading, or teardrop shaped bouquets for weddings - I use a traditional BHO, and add extra foam padding to the handle, cover the back in greenery or other decorative treatment instead of the oldie PNL's.

The dilemma comes with displaying these at the reception - I know oasis made a clamp that can attach to the table edge, the the little cylinder they use won't hold an upgraded holder, only the slender non-amended handle.

Anyone have a trick for displaying these updated-old-school bouquets? Pic attaced of our decorated handle, so you have an idea of size. These aren't particularly small, lightweight bouquets - so a vase would have to have some weight to not topple over.

Try this link http://www.vitaintl.com/

Our local craft store used to carry them....haven't had to purchase for a while, but glad to see they're still available online.

I think when we displayed for a bridal show we used a heavy marble vase with added rocks in the vase. I'm wondering if a 5" cube with decorative rocks in the bottom might be heavy enough, you might not be able to lean it all the way forward tho. I used to pad all the holders for those, but now we use faux stems for them and wrap with ribbon, we also really like the new gala holder for large cascades.

Tracey:
Couple of suggestions:

1. metal & plastic bouquet clamps are still available. The metal ones hold better, if your handle with the jazzy treatment, will fit. The plastic ones have a wider open, and also have little extras below that are good for handing garland & greens & tulle for instance.

2. Have also used taller, heaver cylinder vases to display in the cake table. Will need to be weighted down with heavy rocks or gems.

3. You could also use a short, but wide cube or cylinder -- laying the bouquet across the top for display.

4. You could do it the really old way, and just lay it across the front of the table!!

HTHs.

Tracey, I did a cascade for a wedding yesterday that I also attended. I took a wide mouthed (8"), short vase (4"), that had a heavy base so that she could lay the bouquet on it and place it on the cake table. It looked like a pretty arrangement.

I take a peice of 1 x 4 lumber, glue lengths of 3 inch diameter PVC pipes to the board, cover the board with faux greenery ( or you can cover the board with plastic and use oasis with fresh greenery......the number of pipes equates to the bride and attendants.......drop the bouquets in the pipes at the reception.....the brides bouquet occupies center stage with the attendants flanking hers.

In a little while, when I can find it, I'll post an illustration of what I am speaking of.

Here's the illustration

Took a few moments to find the file........here is the illustration.

As I said, a wooden base....you can put strips/sides on it and seal it to make it watertight if you want..........then glue on sections of painted PVC pipe......or sew gold or silver lame fabric ( true lame does not wick water ) into a sleeve and then pull it over the pipe.......I make the sleeve longer than the pipe so it can have some nice gathers.

not that hard to do, fairly inexpensive, reuseable time after time, keep a few on hand with different numbers of pipes to coordinate with the number of attendants.

I usually sell them a head table arrangement of foliages, (and some flowers, if the budget allows), that I make in a recatangular arranging dish... before adding the oasis, I hot glue in an empty spool from #9 ribbon, or from the curling ribbon spool right in the center of the container.. The hole from the ribbon spool will display the bouquet perfectly, plus it results in an easy add on sale, AND it makes the head table look great!
Fell free to PM me or call me if i did not explain it clearly enough.

Check out a cookware store. I haven't yet had the request to display a bouquet, but I use an upright chicken roaster to support the bouquet when designing. The flared base keeps it stable.

Here's a picture: http://img.alibaba.com/photo/200133802/chicken_roaster.jpg

You could always dress it up a little, if the chrome look doesn't work, or paint it.

Hey Tracy... sorry this is not a very good picture.... crazy photographer, what was she thinking.. anyway... I used a 6" round cylinder vase.. and it can be come the table decoration. I think another time I used a 5" square cube.

Joanne, is the saturated foam heavy enough to keep it from tipping?
