I have standing orders for both Delph and Snaps.... Only use Volk on the delph... and the Canadian snaps can't be beat.... you can literally hold them out at a 45 degrees with no bend...

interesting because i'm in canada and can't get any snaps that are good. and 3 of the 3 area funeral homes don't like them so i stay in their good books by not sending them

Where do you get them from? Mine are from Rosa Flora every Tuesday and Friday... 3'+ tall with 3/8" thick stems... I only buy #1's... $1-1.15/stem

me thinks they are shipping you all the good stuff!
I get them thru a middle man who gets them from Rosa Flora and they are not wonderful.. the stems are ok is more the distance between the florettes that disappoints me.

we stick with beautiful top grade Canadian snaps...delph is a great elevator flower, but, snaps are just way to "imbedded" in our shop's history!!

I get the #1s too, 3' tall and good thickness to the stems...I hate when they are not available...They last a good 7-10 days with no bloom shrivel...I pay 11-15 bucks a bunch, but well wirth it...sometimes for short arrangement use I will get the spindaly 7 buck a bunch stuff, but blossom drop, shrivelling and tips that snap off really bother me with them...rarely happens with the quality stuff...

I have pretty much stopped buying the second grade stuff, I just don't like how it performs in the bucket, in designs or compared to the grocery store...even ,my delph is on steroids, none of that weenie local crap that sheds like crazy...I get mine from one supplier and one only...

Only #1 snaps here and very seldom a problem, and if we do have one that seems a little week I'll put a 16 or 18 gauge wire up it's butt........that smartens it right up!

For hybrid delph = the hollow stems........and old trick that works wonders.......fill the hollow stems with water, plug the end with a bit of cotton, make a small starter hole in your oasis, and insert the stem......alternatively, if the stem is long enogh, use a hyacinth stake in the hollow stem.

#1 snaps mostly but do use larkspur, liatrus, delph or glads (don't really like glads but will use them if have to) I also like using Bells Of Ireland also .

RosaFlora isn't one of my favourite farms when it comes to snaps. I buy from various other farms in the area (can't remember names, only grower #'s).

They seem to be really great right now. I got a couple hundred in this week, and the stems are like tree trunks. All for less then $0.50.

I'm guessing you're buying off a truck?
There's a chance that whoever you're buying off of is an auction buyer. He could be buying the "medium" or 2nd grade crap because he couldn't be bothered to get up early enough to get the good stuff that comes on the auction closer to 6:00am

I watch these guys all the time, and pay attention to their buying patterns...

Do you buy much through the bigger guys like Hofland for example? If you get a good rep, they'll take care of you, and accommodate as much as they can. Hofland comes to mind because my rep mentioned that they have some sort of special on snaps for a little while now. I think it's around $6.95/bu
