With all the talk lately about the ground swell in the Real Florist community (and yes the WSs are paying attention, CLOSE attention)...

I ask... do you share FC?

When I had TF I had it on my outgoing. I do not have it on my mercs, yet, but I will. I want other florists to get in the know, BUT I also have reservations. It does not stop me from telling them, though. There is a guy who works at a florist in a neighboring city that reads the boards and calls me occasionally to talk about something he read. He posted only one time I think he said.

Why Not!

I tell lots of people, and it doesnt always peak their interest.
Only if they knew what they are missing.

I echo Luc's sentiments......

not ALL florists have any interest in sharing knowledge, or gaining new insights....which is why most if not all of the members of the FlowerChat community can easily outdistance their competition because they are REAL FLORISTS, with REAL FLORIST friends......

Most don't take the time

We have local monthly Florist Association meetings and at every one of them, I share something I have read on this board.
But it seems that the majority either don't know how or don't care to take a look.
While I am only the husband of the Florist and work a regular job to pay the bills :), (I do have lunch at the shop everyday and occasionally make a delivery at lunch) I am still very appreciative of this forum for exchanging ideas and learning (especially the marketing topics).
It does take awhile to get into the flow of the topics and for some who are not as sure of themselves on the net, it may be a little intimidating.

But, if you are reading this and have never posted, JUMP IN.
The folks on this forum are great, even the democrats. :)

I've shared but I haven't seen one of them on the board--I thought that maybe they were much more experianced than me and didn't need the support...maybe i need to rethink that!

To me the board has been a terrific source of information and support- wihs I had found it earlier. Even if I don't post every day--I read everything(but politics). I love to log on after a holiday to hear everyone else's stories and solutions-it makes me feel not so alone!

You hit it on the head, Lorrie.

This board makes me feel like I am not alone in this very tough business. You can get answers to just about any thing you have a question on or need help with. There are no negatives about this board. Differences of opinion, yes, but no negatives. I read this board everyday, as well as another board, and am greatful for any information everyone is so willing to provide. :)

Me too also! This isn't a clique... it's a place for anyone in the floral industry. Lots to be learned and shared.

Good Idea

to refresh this topic.
It seems like telling florists who are not "internetliterate" does not generate the interest we think it should.
But yesterday, Christine reviewed the Eden Florist website and I had been aware of Heidi Richards and her business(es) before so I thought to fire off an email to her letting her know about FC and she joined.

It seems to me, it might be easier to attract those who have their own independant sites and therefore a more internet savy group.

Maybe start an email campaign?
