With my Mom's passing, I took care of her and put my life on hold for a bit......Now that she is gone (and I would do it again in a heartbeat ), It is now time for Ricky to take care of Ricky. I have started that process by losing over 20 pounds so far.......and I have discovered the delights, greatflavors, and healthy benefits of juicing fruits and veggies.

I bought one of the Juiceman Jr. Juicers at my local Wal-Mart and I have been experimenting with various combinations of fruits and veggies........and so far, I love all the taste combinations I have tried so far.

The best part is no refined sugars or extra sodium needed. If the juice needs a little sweetening, just addin an apple or two.

My favorite fruit juice so far is combining apples and strawberries
My favorite veggie juice so far is combining carrots, cabbage, and squash.......with an apple for sweetening.

Since I have been doing this for a couple of days ( drinking the veggie juice in the morning and the fruit juice during meals - and a nightcap of apple and pear), I haven't felt this energized in a loooooooong time.

I recommend trying out the benfits of juicing entirely.

"Ricky, when Buddy retired, he did not handle it so well with his Type A personality.. One day he decided to get a juicer. Now. Buddy never does anything halfway.
The juicer has given him a purpose in life. Anyone that asks him what is going on in his life....he tells them all about his juice and the different combinations. We have not been without fresh juice a single day for over 3 years.

Now, when you meet Buddy, the two of you can talk for hours on end. I'm just glad to know there are two of you in the world.

Ricky, proud for the 20 pounds less of you.I know it makes to have a new out look on every thing. Keep on juicing! Connie would love to hear this about you. Give her a call Ricky.

Hey well done on the weight loss, that is fab. I am struggling like mad but still on my 23 year old diet. I bet 20 pound has made a massive difference..

Isn't juicing the best! Was turned onto it several years ago by a nurse who was helping me resolve some bowel problems.

We eat so much stuff that our bodies just can't handle. As americans we eat sooooooo much more than we need to survive. Juicing always shows me the excess in my life. You just need a small amount to get all the nutrients you need to survive.

Good for your ricky, keep it up!

Thanks Ricky, this is something I've been meaning to look into for a while, but never think of at the right time. I'm glad you've reminded me. The 20 pound weight loss is great! I've recently quit smoking and have gained about 30, not that I've eaten more, actually I've eaten less, it's crazy. I think maybe incorporating some juices just might help my metabolism get back to normal. Well... that and that pesky excercise program.............

Well, time for an update to this story - I am still drinking the juices - although it is a full serving in the morning. I am also mixing together multiple fruits and veggies together. I start out the morning with this basic combination - 2 oranges, 2 carrots, 1 broccoli head, 2 celery stalks, 2 apples - and to vary the flavors I usually add either/or 1 plum, 4 strawberries, 1/4 cantaloup, or some chopped watermelon.

I usually add the plum if I am a bit 'irregular' ( because we all know a prune is just a dried plum )

Also, have been going to a gym for about 4 months now and have dropped down over thirty pounds total and still dropping - also strength training and body building to replace the lost body fat with muscle.

I still have a long way to go.....but I am getting there......

Good for you Ricky. Way to go.....

As for Buddy, he is still juicing (thank, God). One day a health freak friend came over and he was telling her all about his juicing and what a healthy habit it was. Then she thought it was her duty to tell him that it was better to eat the fruits and vegetables whole to get the full nourishment out of them...I quickly let her to the door and said--leave it alone, it gives him a purpose to get up in the mornings. lol

Seriously, we would never eat enough whole fruits and vegetables to accomplish what the juicer does. It does taste great in the mornings.

I purchased the Montel Williams blender that keeps all the fruit and veggie stuff without separating the pulp from the juice. I really love it with the exception that already there seems to be a problem with the machine. I paid a huge amount of money for this thing to already start craping out on me. :(
