Dove V9.2 Update - Be advised!

It's not on the disc envelope and I sure didn't see it a warning when I updated my Dove software but be warned - the V9.2 will run a WinAudit application which will transmit the brand of your pc and model, processor, hard drive size, RAM, OS, Browser and Version to Teleflora headquarters.

I wonder what else it transmits.

This type of CRAP has got to stop. Didn't Microsoft get into trouble for having IE do the same thing - all without you knowing??? I personally wouldn't touch IE with a 10 ft. pole, use Firefox...WAY too cool.

Talk about Big Brother... I see why TEL would do it - they want to see if there are folks out there running old PC's - like MEEEE! :hammer:
My trusty, have to re-boot 3~4 times a day Win 98 PC...formerly know as my Advantage Server :)
Wouldn't have it any other way...LOVE my DOVE 6.something...yup.

It was the last @@@@ straw for me and Gudrun yesterday.

I saw that WinAudit popup and I got mad as h ell! I do not loose my temper at work but I just lost it when I saw that. Complained to TF about it and got the typical response "to better serve your tech support needs, the need to see if we're using current equipment." Give me a freakin' break - one version of Dove shipped has a "Do not install unless you run Win95 or NT." Current, yea, right.

This is happening with Advantage also

They want to know what version you are on.

The real reason here is when you have every one on the same version it is easier to support.
they can push to get everyone to upgrade by the results of the messages.
But I hate to say it, it does help trouble shoot some issues. that comes and goes with different versions.

Also lets headquarters know who to call for upgrade sales calls.

Totally agree!!! It makes sense! But with Advantage, the system has been sending updates for YEARS, and there was nothing hidden about it. Also, the Advantage server was/is really only used to run Advantage. Dove PC's tend to run other software and contain data that is personal in nature. Here in lies the issues I see, and the potential abuse...

That was my issue, that it was 'hidden'. I can appreciate that they need to know some information, I just hated the underhanded way they went about getting all the information they did.

Family has been in FTD since 1939.... It is in my blood....

How is the Dove support doing since it was moved to India or was that just a rumor.... I heard in the office???

I wonder if that is why they wanted the info so the new Tec's could seem to be a little more informed??

A agree They should let you know what they are doing.... .
it never stop amazing me some of the stuff that is dreamed up at headquarters, with out any regard to the florist. and I am talking FTD and TEL.
