When my grandparents' house was torn down, my dad's recipe book from when he was in the Army during WWII was found in the walls. What a treasure it is to us! Written in his own wonderful handwriting, the recipes are for "lbs." of ingredients, including eggs. His lemon pie recipe called for grinding (grating?) up the entire lemons, peel and all.
