I thought today would be a fitting time to let everyone know where I am coming from as an FCer. Some here already know what I actually do for a living, and I don't work full time in Buffie's shop.
I work in the Noise Control Division for a company called EH Price. www.price-hvac.com
I am a Product Marketing Manager for a new group of products that we have been developing over that last several years, and recently released to the market. I manage product development and a team of application engineers, and wrote most of Section K in the catalog you can see from the link above.
So, you may wonder why I spend so much time here on FC. (Besides the fact that engineering is boring, and business is fun!) Well, it's because Buffie and I spent 3 years sinking cash into the flower shop, and the last 2 trying to figure out how to run it better. We don't yet have kids, and we joke that the flower shop is our child, that has many needs.
1. Constant supervision.
2. Better local presence through local branding.
3. Better online presence through web work and SEO.
4. Better handle on what our customers are actually seeking.
A child indeed! I spend most of my free time working on the store. (Instead of soccer practice...)
I have learned more about the business of flowers here than one could learn in years in the flower business of old. (Strangely, mostly from the people that annoy me...)
And I will do my best to remain controvercial, antagonistic and engaged as I believe that is the only way to drive real discussion.
Why is this a great coming out day? Today is the 10 year anniversary of my first day at work after college.
