Been in business for just over 20 years.

I have no formal flower education, I am an accountant and my wife and her sister run our florist shop. My interest in joining your forum is that my other business DVD-and-Media although not obviously related to florists is an importer of Chinese Sky Lanterns and we are selling 1000's of them through our shop and website, I would like to promote these to other flower shops as a good margin product and great from now till Christmas. I can offer some superb trade pricing to your members and these will definately get more footfall in shops.

We have a large warehouse just north of Doncaster and a florist shop in Adwick-le-Street.

Hi and thank you for your application.

I was just wondering before i cast my vote if your wife is going to be joining in our discussions as a florist. In my opinion this board is for anyone related to the florist industry and whilst i think your lanterns are great i would love to have the input of another uk florist. The discussions here can be really great and we can all help each other out.

Or is it just yourself as a business opportunity - please do not take offence at this question but if the board was full of suppliers then the florist talk would be minimal.

Palms,

I appreciate your 'concerns' that I am just interested in promoting the sky lanterns and yes I will be honest that is the main reason for me joining. My wife will join the forum as she spends alot of time on another florist forum as well.

I wanted to canvas the opinion of florists in your part of the world as to if the sky lanterns were something you were interested in selling through your shops?

Hi and thank you for your interest.

I echo Palm's concerns. Please tell us how you can benefit the community... we know how we can benefit you as a wholesaler. :)

Also does Poppies have a website as well? If so, please share.

Thanks.

Our website is http://www.floralspecialist.co.uk

We have been targeting local traffic - i.e. florist doncaster, flowers doncaster, wedding flowers doncaster etc and it works really well for us.

Thing is we are also a member of interflora and the value for money the customers are getting now means quite a few complaints - which in turn means we have to phone and say that the arrangement has the correct stems in it according to the interflora recepie then we end up swapping it out (for exactly the same) - I personally think people are wising up to the fact that by complaining they can get an extra couple of days out of their flowers by having us replace them following a complaint. I have got several local addresses that I will not take orders over my relay service for now as I know in advance what will happen. Do any of you guys get this problem?

Well Mark there is but I will not post the URL, basically its one that predominatly is in the UK and from what I can see yours is USA.
