As many of you know being assorted with a WS can help get you those special orders. When it comes to a celebrity funeral many of larger companies choose to send their orders through companies such as FTD 800flowers and Teleflora.

Its easier for them but what happens when a florist is selected to be the only one that knows when and where a service is taken place?

A long time customer of ours did just that. We were selected as the only go to florist for this service. Let me tell you that it was not easy keeping quite about this. But let me tell you that because we are not associated with places like 800flowers and FTD these companies where unable to send orders through these companies. Which of course then they had to call us directly.

But I noticed we had some people calling us trying to get us to disclose the location of the service and to be honest it did seem like I had a few people trying a little harder then normal to trick us.

One company called us 3 times explaining that they went through a 800 company and after telling the 800 company they had to send the order to Everyday Flowers it was told to them that they could not and had to call us directly.

I know that this probably made things a little more difficult for these larger companies but I did have chance to tell them why they had to call us and give them a little education about the industry. They actually found it very interesting and of course it was only when they asked me why I did not work with 800flowers or FTD that I gave them the nice short explanation. Besides, they new our customer that had set this up and they felt better knowing that I knew what was going on, who was ordering, what was being sent and that we would notify them directly once the delivery was completed. I actually was in constant contact with my customer via his Iphone keeping him up to date with what was being sent and when my driver was showing up with each piece. I did have to send one of my unmarked cars to the service. Would of been nice to of seen our car on the news but it was not my day it was the the family and friends day.

Now I know this is not something that I would expect to happen all the time and it took sometime before it happened to us. But do you think if I did not have relations with all of my customers and I relied upon the WS to gather my orders would I have recieved as much as I did?

Just giving everyone here something to think about when you fill those discounted orders. Because you really are just keep those companies in business and giving them a reason to keep those larger companies ordering again and again through the 800 services.

Have a great day everyone!!

Nice! What a win for our industry...Glad the consumers weren't frustrated twits and understood the reasons why you need to take this stance...Good on you for being diligent in keeping your secret for your customer, anonomity is the very thing that some celebrities never get and I am sure reward the companies that respect their wishes...

I do hope it made the jobs harder for the order takers and not too much more difficult for the consumers...I had an order just now from wesley berry that I ok'd to take not realizing it was them, they sent it 20 bucks cheaper than their website, short on my delivery even after I told them I would have to go to the market special to get the birds for todays delivery...they kept the guise of being another "florist". so right now this store just tickles me silly...

Horray for you in standing strong for yourself and your industry...Oh BTW, I ended up rejecting that order, I stood my my promise of not filling for these people advertising in my yard..

Didn't Gary Coleman used to live around here. I read Star Magazine every week as a stress reliever and the only celebrity client I have ever had is Kato Kaelin ( OJ Simpsons roommate). Pretty sad considering my shop is only 30 miles from LA

Kathy Mattea came into my shop and purchased a dozen roses for her Aunt's birthday. Her childhood home is very close to our shop (walking distance). Her mother died a few years ago and the house has been sold so we haven't seen her since.
