F/A-18 jet crashed right by my shop today

An F/A-18 supersonic jet crashed up the road from my shop into two houses and caused a big fire. 3 people are dead, 1 is missing. The pilot ejected and parachuted down into a different location. The noise from the explosion caused quite a commotion here. Traffic is a mess.

Wow! I am sorry to hear this.

One of the benefits of picking up flowers in STL is sometimes you get to see some really cool take offs.

F15 Eagles, Strike Eagles, FA18 Hornets, Super Hornets are built right across the runways at Lambert field. It is always a wonderful sight to see those jets go almost vertical using only 3/4 of a runway.

to read about one crashing in a neighborhood is sad.

This is very sad, Darrel. Like Joe, I'm very sorry to hear it as well.
 
Saw it on the news...glad it missed your location, sadly it hit residences.

Saw it on CNN this morning.. wondered if it was close to anyone.. thought of Aileen too. Very sad, but I'm glad that you are okay.

Just wanted to pop in and say I'm fine. I could see the fire from my front door....I'm across on top of another canyon. I guess I saw it going down without realizing that's what it did. I heard the sound of the jet, saw one and then next thing I know I saw smoke. I didn't realize it was from the jet. I feel awful for those people and their homes. I'm glad the pilot made it safe but I'm sure he's really beating himself up and feeling very guilty about this. I'm sure he knows by now how many died. It's just really awful all around...I'm wondering why it went down. Been praying and thinking of those involved.
 
Here is a map to show how close the crash was in relation to my shop. The red peg represents my shop location, the blue peg represents the crash location. It's a sad day to those involved in this tragic event.

Yeah, my driver had just made a delivery a couple of blocks away moments prior to crash. Kinda freaky.
 
Thank goodness you are all okay.

I saw the report on the news and it didn't occur to me that it may affect people here. I'm sorry for the losses and my heart goes out to the pilot.

'Tis sad indeed! I'm glad that you and yours are well, but I'm sad for the lose of life and for that pilot.
 
They're still looking for one missing person on the ground, a child.

Glad you and yours are OK, what a tragedy.

On a happier note......wow, look how close you are to the beach....I am jealous.....and wanting to visit
