Some may remember me, others don't. I used to be very active on the boards before they went to pay service. Since I am not the owner and was only working at the flower shop as I went through college, I couldn't see paying for the forum. Even though I think this place is invaluable. I have unsuccessfully tried to convince the owner (my uncle) for years to change things based on information found here and information I derived on my own. I can't tell you the countless spreadsheets I have made to show how terribly priced FTD arrangements are or how we shouldn't accept wire service orders of a certain price or the biggie, not having the wire service to begin with.

Anyways, long story short, I graduated college a few weeks ago and worked through Mother's Day and quit. I received my commission as a 2LT in the Army so I figured I needed a few weeks of no obligations in order to pack for my moves.

So I will probably come around to lurk a bit and email my uncle from time to time trying to convince him to get out of 2 wire services (supposedly he is dropping FTD, fingers crossed).

Best of luck to everyone and hopefully things change to regain what the industry should be.

Good luck in the Army - a world of difference from retail floral! Makes occasionally seeing the WS or OGs as "the enemy" seem like small fry now.

My thanks for serving our country first.

Corey, best wishes for a great new life. (Yes, I do remember you- some of us have been around here a long time) tell your uncle if he misses you trying to push him out of FTD he can call us anytime-we can nag as well as anyone!

Corey,

From another Indianapolis area Flower Shop owner best of luck with your new career in the Army. I also use the board to pass on good ideas to my florist wife and fortunately she is receptive to most of my ideas concerning financials. As she tells everyone, her accountant is very inexpensive. She only has to share her home with him.

Corey, successful and safe journey's for you is my wish. Your uncle was lucky to have you.

2LT... A higher calling is a noble life. May the spirits of those who have gone before you, carry you today, tomorrow and always.

And about your uncle... You can lead a horse... but....
