Wow, thanks for the link. Very beautiful "bouquet" though I would call it more of an arrangement.

yeah i would too, i think the idea is that it looks like a hand tied. Not sure where you could use it but i always like an idea in the back of my mind just in case!! Glad you liked it.... Hey and if only customers would want all of those flowers in a hand tied anyway.:kenny

interesting i think, dont think its very commercial though, I would think it would be difficult to water for example and transport. thanks for sharing though, quite a good idea for a demonstration piece. My video froze half way through, did he wrap ribbons round its belly to finish it?

oh defo not commercial, not in my shop anyway but i thought for competition work for something a bit different or demos. he put a collar of leather leaf around it. I just thought it was quirky!!

I could se doing these for a wedding...although trasport and strage would be difficult...they would look great on tables without the expense of the glass...

yeah, i was reading the other thread about faux for brides. I think they are a good idea especially for oriental lilly hand ties and other flowers that dont seem to sit well in hand ties, this way you can place them where they look best and probably use less flowers. Its something i have never thought of doing because it is so cold in scotland, we dont have the wilting problem , but as a design idea, i think i like them. going to have a go at them:). I am gathering that the bridal ones are in a bridal holder (icecream corne type) with the stems wrapped round the handle

i was a bit unsure of this as well dee, maybe one of our american friends could help out with this and post a pic??

When we do faux hand tied bouquets for weddings we use the regular plastic bridal bouquet holder, apply the leaves to the back, work the arrangement in the holder and then add cut stems around the handle, hold in place with rubber bands, glue or whatever else and those mechanics are covered up with ribbon and trims. Is that what you were asking? There are photos in the other thread on the faux hand ties. All the brides here are going for that technique, you get a much more round look with this.

I think like dee says, us brits tend to do hand tieds as the weather really does not effect them (unfortunately)...

Obviously use the holders for showers and teardrops but would be a bit worried that flowers would fall out, do you glue in??

We either put the cold glue on the sides of the stems as they go in or use the easier spray stuff that you spray onto the oasis in the holder with a tiny spray nozzle, it locks the stems to the oasis. I suppose now you want to know the name of it? lol I can never remember the name, my bad. Here's a link to what I'm talking about.

thanks for that tuberose, I havent used that before, I will look out for that, I have used the floral adhesive glue in a tube. the thing that im not sure of is, you say the stems are attached to the holder with elastic bands, do you find that holds them securely enough? I would be aftaid they would slip out and the bride would be left holding the stems with bouquet on the floor.....eek

dee i think me and you should have a go at the bouquet holder thing. i will do it on monday with my left overs , lets take some pics and compare. tuberose thanks for all the info...:bouncy:

oooo good idea, have u the thick handle holder or the thin ones? we could use different holders and compare, i cant remember what i have in the small ones but will check tomorrow:spintongu

For extra security we sometimes will wrap some cling around the handle of the bouquet holder before sliding the stems up it, that seems to do the trick pretty good and we haven't had any complaints on that. One thing about using the bouquet holder is that you can get a nice open look with it just like if you were making an arrangement and lots of depth with the flowers as well.

Pink bouquet below was in a holder, white one was a hand tie.

The third picture is of a pimped out handle I saw online, shows a different style of finishing it off but you can see it's on a bouquet holder, I haven't done this one yet, maybe for the bridal show that's coming up.

It's called floral-lock. Hope this helps.

very sticky stuff when it gets on your hands, but leafshine will help it come off.

well, i made one :bouncy:, I quickly made one this morning while waiting on the flower delivery and I liked it, very quick to do, I was quite rough with it and the stemmed handle seemed to be secure enough, I used an elastic band which in itself did seem to be secure but also added glue just to make sure it stayed put. I didnt spray the handle green but in future would as it is visible when left white, I couldnt see it very much but would spray it green for a real one. It would be an alternative Id give to my brides instead of doing oasis posies which i dislike anyway, thanks everyone for your help, I will try and upload a few pics of it when i get home later (that should be fun :spin). It was made from leftover flowers so they are a bit past their best, just in case anyone thinks my flowers are a bit poo lol

I always use enough stems that it makes for a decent sized handle, probably 20 at least, that covers the white handle pretty good and then we always finish it off with a ribbon wrap, then it is really hidden.

This weekend we did had tied bouquets and ones in the holder as well, I really prefer the shape of the ones in the holder as viewed from the side.

Thanks to Carieann for the product name.

Glad that worked out for you, be sure to post the pics.

you'll never guess what.....I forgot to bring the camera home, oops, will have to post the pics tomorow, but on the up side, i put it in my window and a bride saw it and ordered 3 for her wedding in september :spintongu, so i get to do them again for real, whooopppeee. The handle itself was pretty much covered by the stems but when you looked underneath it you could see the white, thats why Id spray green, the bride maybe not be looking there but still :>

Very inspired now.Just need to find customers who will spend that much money!
Would look great in a window display.
