Just watched a report on CNN about the worst flooding in NH history and the city of Keene hit the worst. Isn't Carol form there? Anybody heard if she is ok. CNN made it look pretty bad. Carol, if you are ok, let us know!

According to the paper here today some of Keene streets are under 4 to 6 ft of water. I had a store in Keene years ago in another industry and most of keene I believe is built on an odl dried up lake bed and is prone to flooding when they receive large amounts of rain as they did this weekend.

Yes, best wishes to Carol and Valerie...hope ya'll be OK....

I'm still here..no staff tho' most were out of townover the weekend and instructed not to hurry home.. It isn't as bad as it looks for the most part. The problem was we got almost 11 inches of rain in like a day and a half and most of the lakes & rivers couldn't handle the run off. the east side streets were under water.. maybe a few feet..they evacuated people, because it is hard to turn your furnace on if the water is in the basement.. the college long term parking lot caught a lot of water..mayb 3 ft so some of the cars may be damaged. My brothers lumber yard caught some damage..but we are dry.
Steve, your old location was ok too..interesting since of course one of the rivers runs right behind it..but the flow went on down to the college and south Keene..
Schools would have been closed anyway..and a few business are closed.. so probably won't have much business.
The biggest problem is that we lost a lot of small bridges, some larger ones in the area.. Yesterday morning as I drove in they were closiing roads right behind me.. I did not get an inkling until I was 10 miles in from home.. I live high up in the woods on a top lake so the only water I have in the cellar is ground water that seeped in.
The major route to Concord, state capital lost a bridge..not sure how that is going to be fixed.. and all the backroad work arounds lost bridges or entire roadbeds, as I came in the bridge behind me was just being closed.
so if you want to go north from here you need to go back to Vt up 91 and way up to 89 and back down to Concord..
Big problems for us.. since this is not something we deal with.. but if it had been snow..what 10 ft???
Interesting..but 20 years ago we had major flooding.. what they call the '100 year flood"... those areas were not affected in this one.. I guess due to all the new construction... Home Depot built on a wet land.. raised the level maybe 10 ft and that is probably why the water went to my brothers place
