Ok, I have a large party tomorrow night, and I was told I could do whatever, which is a blessing! I have a large 3 Foot flower vase and I want to fit a lomey dish with flowers on top, and I want to submerge Curly Willow and the Flora Lytes in the vase. I just need some suggestions on covering the mechanics of the light. I was thinking sisal, or maybe using callas in the water and putting flora lytes in the callas? Need some suggestions! The flowers on the top are Delph., Curly Willow, Green Dendro Orchids, Cool Water Roses and Green Hydrangas. Thanks in advance!

I love the idea of tucking a light into a calla bud, sumberged and twisted up with the curly willow, maybe some bear grass/lily grass thrown in there. It would be a very contemporary look.

We did another vase treatment for a wedding show - took crinkled up cello and stuffed it into a tall vase and added colored water. It had kind of a bubbly look to it all, which was pretty cool. You could add your light to that, and have the colored water match? Just another idea.

Sounds like a fun event - pictures please!

We used accolytes in a bunch of arrangements, the white ones. The vinyl covering the battery area was white as well and going on river rock. They would have stuck out like a sore thumb against the rock. I went to the hardware store and bought brown electrical tape and covered the white, didn't have to wind it totally, all I did was start at the top of the light and go down and then once around, sort of like putting a band aid on It was enough to cover the marjority of the accolyte.

Another option, longer to do though, is to wind the tape around like corsage tape on a stem. Takes longer, uses more tape. In some applications you would want to use this method.

I will plead ignorance and tell you I'm not sure if a flora lyte is the same as accolyte but maybe someone will find this hint useful :)

We've used several different things to "hide" the Floralyte:

Crushed Ice from Accent Decor
Colored Ice from Sandtastic
Designer Stones from W.J. Cowee

If you have our "Wedding Flower Style" book, you can see how they were done in the Blue/Lavender section (however, the submerged lights don't show up as bright in the photograph as they do in reality).

the party is over!

Well, we submerged the callas, and inserted the light in them, it worked out well, we of course, assembled on site, but the funny thing was, I took the picture while we were making it, but did I take a picture of the final product? Of Course Not! So we did add 3 more callas and lights to the vase, (which looks a little empty in the photos) thanks for the input! Got a lot of positive comments from everyone there!
