Ok so I have a party coming up and I cannot use any flames. It was requested that I put lighting in some oak trees but I'm not sure what to use. There are some hanging led votives but these dont seem to give off much light and they are kind of ugly. I also saw some clear glass vases that would be great to hang from trees. My question is: Would it look weird to hang those vases and just clunk a floralyte by itself in the vase. Would that look strange? Would it give off a good, soft glow? I haven't had much experience with these floralytes.

Oh and the party is this weekend so I can't really order anything. I've already tried to get some paper lanterns. I do know the wholesaler has the floralytes in stock though.

Thanks in advance for any information!

Floralytes are FAB, but you're right, the amount of light they put out is minimal. Also, the LED bulbs in the Floralytes are directional. They only put out light in one direction.

The picture below has the plastic Floralyte votives. We drilled tiny holes on the edges to hang them from silver wires. The room had to be very dark to see that they glowed. This pic is with flash, so you can't tell.

What about creative electric lighting? Rope lighting woven through tree branches looks pretty hip. If you buy it at Lowes, it can be affordable (and Floralytes aren't cheap!!) Also, some of the holiday lighting can look great if it goes beyond just plain minibulbs. There are hip light covers that we use on events sometimes.

Another great look is Moonlighting. You take a halogen construction light. The smallest, weakest one you can find. Climb the tree (or get some young strong kid to climb it) and zip-tie the light shining down. They do this a lot in the South as permanent garden lighting.

If it isn't possible to do the climbing, then use the halogen light to Uplight the tree.

to help to maximize the reflected light.....crumple some cellophane and water in your glass on top of the floralyte.....the cellophane reflects the light and the water magnifies the light - This is trick I do all the time.
