We have been putting the word out that we are looking to expand our website. Currently we have a custom Teleflora website, but we are looking to go WS FREE ASAP!!!

One of my Farm Reps jsut called me to tell me he saw an ad for Floranext.com. I did a search and found very few interactions either with or about this company here on FC.

Their website is vauge as to what you really get with a custom site, which is what I need.

Does anyone have any constructive comments about this company BEFORE I ask them for information... don't want to go into the conversation blind - and don't wnat to waste my time, either!

Thanks in advance.

Nothing on them, but be sure to check out Strider Websites before you commit to anyone~!

I sent a request for Strider to contact me... I'm hoping to hear from them this week before the meetings I have locally next week!

<hint, hint...> ;-)

I have a strider site and am very pleased with it. They are extremely easy to update and with the new ticket submission system, any queries or problems you may have (which are few and far between) they are answered really quickly.

I do not get no where near the same online orders as Adam gets but i do get lots of orders by phone from my website. I have great seo results and also have got lots of weddings and corporate event work from my website. I also find that either by phone or online, they are a higher average spend than walk ins.

I have a custom one that i sketched and faxed to jim, with a few emails back and too and tweaks, we came up with mine. I love it!!

I have great seo results...

I like your site also!
I already asked Adam this... so I'll ask you too:
Did you have a website prior to your Strider site???
What do you see as both pros & cons of your site???
Do you handle your SEO yourself or does Strider do that for you???
Also, do you use PPC advertising at all???

Yes i had a website with one and one which was really cheap. It did have good results on seo and i did get orders from it on the phone (it was not e commerce).

I do not have ppc, but i dont have much competition in my area so i dont really need it at this point in time.

I do get a better response from this website and the average spend is higher although i do have much better pics on it. I find I always want to update it and make it better. It really does not compare looking wise, to the last one. I get so many good comments on this site. :)

Those are the pros, i would eventually like for people not to have to register before buying but its not a massive problem. But apart from that i really dont have any cons.

For example, i got two corporate gigs worth £2000 in December which i categorically can say i would not have got without it. I have also got so many wedding orders from it too.

But like anything, you do have to put in the work yourself :0

Good luck in your decision and if i can answer anything else (not too complicated ;) ) please ask away..

That helps tremendously!
Register first??? Hmmm... I suppose there is a rationale behind that feature.
I'm still waiting to speak with someone at Strider but I'm glad you mentioned that - would never have occured to me otherwise.
You guys ROCK!

Hi Nancy,

I just got my Strider site launched the end of January and am lovin' it! I had a site for five years that I built myself, and although I had good SEO, it was not e-commerce. I had a shopping cart feature but it was not set up specifically for florists so the shipping was a nightmare and I quickly dropped it. Surprised you have not already heard from Jim, he's pretty quick on answering questions.

The pre-register before ordering has been a sticking point for many people, and then they just call and order. Even though I dropped my wire service in January, my Feb sales are up over last year with total wire from 2009 ADDED IN, and I can say unequivocally that it is almost entirely due to this new site. I too see the logic behind registering, it's a good way to gather up that contact info. They are not required to register unless they are attempting to order. I still don't know how I feel about that.

My site is http://any-timeflowers.com

Linda,
I love your site!!! You and I clearly have similar taste in coloring and style!!! I really like some of the features on there, were those your ideas or the site designer???

I'm just wondering, why wouldn't the actual ordering process itself be a "registration process" so to speak.

We met with a business consultant back in december and one of the biggest criticisms he had was that he felt we should have MORE customer physically place their orders ON the website. He felt that the site should be soooo easy and user friendly and answer every possible concievable question that 75% of the customers would have no problem placing their order online... Right now, we only get 25% of the orders actually placed on the website the other 75% call thier orders in instead.

I'm seeing the registration as a deterent in that % goal... BUT, as long as they order with us - I'm a happy girl!

I too have a Strider website that I am happy with...

The registration only requires that the customer give their email and come up with a password - so really the only extra thing is the password as they would need to give the email in the contact info anyway, but it seems that many customers don't realise this. I believe the customer benefits to registering are order tracking and keeping recipient address information so that next time they order for the same person they don't need to input the whole address again.

I've been thinking about explaining this in my sites FAQ's, but not many people read this in any case.

Huh...
Well, I guess if we find a way to educate our returning customers who are used to our old site and may wonder "why" they have to register AGAIN that it is just that simple, maybe it won't be too bad.
Any other pros or cons???
