My husband and I have both been in collisions caused by cell phone drivers. (I just got hit on Saturday).

Now, can they also legislate the deer?

Considering my husband was coming home on his harley from down state on Tuesday and was almost taken out in his own lane by some jerk talking on his cell phone while eating his lunch at 65mph because he was trying to drive with his knees in the third lane.........and when coming home from vacation we were run out of our lane by quite a few people who can't drive and talk at the same time, I feel it's time for every state to mandate hands free. But even with Hands Free, some people can't talk without using their hands!!!

Poor animals :( You know what I really love, is the people who are text messaging while in the car. You can tell they are doing it because they are fiddling around with their phone way to much.

Also, as some of you know, I am 18, and it is kind of funny (not really) that several of the people in my drivers ed class totaled their cars because of cell phones or other distractions within the first year. My worst thing was taking out a mailbox while avoiding a car that went over the center line.

Now that's funny.....way funny!
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

With all of the criticism of cell phone usage while driving an auto, I would simply like to say that I have seen many drivers doing many worse things. For example, I saw a driver on I-85 near Atlanta who was driving an SUV while having a map spread open over the steering wheel. I have seen folks trying to drive while reading material in folders and the newspaper. One of my daughters changed out of a bridesmaid's dress into an outfit for another wedding, also on an interstate highway. And driving with the knees??? See it all of the time. We have a box type truck that we use for our wholesale plant business, and from the height of the cab, looking down at cars, we have seen auto antics which....well, you get the idea.

NJ has similar laws for using cell phones while driving...and so? The cell phone police have quite a task on their hands! There's no way this type of law can be effectively enforced! Jersey drivers are still chatting and texting on a daily basis! It would be interesting to know how many fines are actually issued for using your cell while driving!

Checked with a FHP Public Information officer who says it ain't so! Maybe urban legend stuff.
Considering what they've been doing to our Police officers down here this week (one killed, one in critical condition-- just in this county) it's a wonder we're allowed out of doors.
Then ,I woke up with 5 Hollywood Police cruisers on my front lawn 7 officers guns drawn, this morning. The bad guys were ever so nicely parked behind my PT cruiser. Got to love South Florida!

Yikes! Lorrie, what a scary story!
