Florist Shout-Outs

I'm starting this thread as a place to post a shout-out about a florist who did a great/special/memorable/cool job.

It's easy to focus on negatives and daily frustrations, so now we have an easy spot to highlight the good deeds and exceptional services of our fellow florists.

Here are a couple FC members to whom I'd like to give a personal shout out:

avflorist, Florita of A Vanity Fair Florist in Sacramento CA, delivered a special order for me yesterday. A couple weeks ago, I promised blogger Mike Blumenthal (the Google Local expert who has doggedly written about the florist listings hijackings) I'd send flowers for him as a way of saying 'thanks' for all his coverage of local florist issues. Mike's wife is in Sacramento on business all this week so he asked me to have some flowers sent to her hotel room there.

I called Florita and placed the order yesterday morning for delivery in the afternoon. (The wife was arriving at the hotel at 8:30 pm.)

Mike sent me the following email this morning:

She absolutely loved them! Many, many thanks. She couldn't figure out how I "had time" with the kids, work and dinner to send them. I confessed

Mike has previously told me he only uses local florists. Yay all around!!!

christi_dellarobia, Christi Of Bergeron's Flowers in Springfield, VA delivered several large designs, including the casket piece, to the funeral of the father of one of our long-time customers. The family had pre-planned the look of the flowers but didn't let us know about the the Dad's passing until a very short time before the service.

Christi and her team not only pulled everything together at the last minute (Saturday notice for a Monday service), they made designs which both comforted and impressed the family. The daughter told me "It was such a difficult time for all of us at Dad's service and the gorgeous flowers made all the difference. Everybody mentioned how beautiful they were. I never realized how important flowers can be at a funeral."

Thanks so much for starting this thread, CHR! I had thought about a "good florist thread" a while ago, but never got around to it.

I don't think there's anyone from this shop on this website, but I'd like to do a shout out for Podjan's Academy Florist in Brandon, Manitoba. I had an order going to a tiny town church in the middle of nowhere, couldn't find a florist. I googled a map of the area and Brandon was about 50 km away. Then I searched Brandon florists, and called a couple -- they rejected the order because of the distance and the small size of the order. Third call was to Podjan's, and they came through for me, and did it with a smile.:thumbsup

Dang I send to many personal orders,,,these are shops, I have used in the last few months, and I can tell you I am so happy with everyone of you for helping me out, and I think we need a place for all the bad ones, and I know this sounds wrong, but maybe it will help them to do better, So thank you for all you do for me,,,,,I know that sometimes, we don't get kuddos, but you know even if I don't call you for orders, I do love each and everyone of you.,,,YOu know who you are,,,,HUGS...
