I read the following story online, and it got me wondering...If you won a million dollars, would you still continue as a floral designer? Would you stay in your current business/shop/situation, or would you reinvent yourself? Or quit altogether? Just thought it would be fun to dream for a moment!

Culver City (October 14, 2008) – Michelle Loewenstein, a 24-year-old newlywed and floral designer from Santa Monica, Calif., hit the jackpot and won the first-ever $1 million on Wheel of Fortune since the show introduced the One Million Dollar Bonus Round at the start of the season in September.
“What an incredible wedding present…we just arrived home from our honeymoon a few days ago. I still can’t believe I won $1 million, but I had a feeling something good was going to happen today,” Loewenstein said just after the taping. “My biggest problem is going to be keeping the secret.”
This season, Wheel of Fortune has increased its top cash prize ten-fold since the start of the $100,000 Bonus Round seven years ago, giving away the cash prize to 16 lucky winners.
As the first-ever $1 million winner on Wheel of Fortune, Loewenstein becomes the biggest money winner in the show's 26-year history. The Edison, N.J. native solved the Bonus Round puzzle —“Leaky Faucet” – on a day (08-08-08) that she considers lucky. "I have been a fan of the show since I was a kid and now watch every night with my husband. Without a doubt this is the only game show I watch,” she said, adding that she and her husband haven’t even thought about what they will do with the winnings.
Loewenstein will be watching her big television debut with her family and friends in New Jersey.

Part of me says yes, I would still be a florist, but I'd spend some $ and buy super high end fancy everything. But part of me says, nah, I'd travel. Maybe travel, then be a super high end fancy pants florist.

Cause i'm feeling really tired right at this moment I would buy a desterted Island.

How relaxing.

I may have a different answer on Monday.lol

right at this very moment, I would have to say I would quit and really fix up my house and travel. Things have been quite frustrating right now.

But in all reality I would say that would only make me happy for a short while. So, no I would not quit doing what I do because it is who I am.

I do have a lot of ideas to redo the shop, that would be real fun!!!!

I would work part time, volunteer and travel. :)

As bad as this sounds, a million really doesn't go very far these days. Now don't get me wrong I'd be overjoyed to win it.

I doubt it's paid in a lump sum, it's probably paid over a 30 year period. So minus taxes, it would be nice supplemental income. I'd definitely take a nice vacation.

Sorry Carrieann, you're right it's fun to dream. I guess I've been overly obsessed with dollars and cents lately.

I would be outta here so fast your head would spin!

No a million bucks doesn't go as far as it used to but I would head off to some little pacific island or somewhere in asia and live like a king ;)

ditto what todd said... Except, I'd also buy a winnebago and travel around the country when I got back from my island vacation

In Canada a win of a million is a million... no taxes. :) So while a million isn't what it used to be, it would still make the rest of my life pretty darn cool. I am closer to the end than the beginning it would seem (chronologically).

I figure I'd pay off my credit cards, then STILL have to work!!:thumbsup
Kidding aside, people have to have a purpose to get up in the morning...imagine still loving the florist business enough, to keep at it, even after winning big money???....(sic).....N0 really...:)alcoholic), aw c'mon, not even a little bit??....:wallhead:......is there anyone that can :help:....I can......

I'd fund a foundation, collect more funds and build a drug/alcohol detox/treatment/counseling center...

I'd give a portion to our new fledgling ministry and get out of debt.

Wow, its been really fun to read all your answers! I'm on the verge of getting out of my business (floral school) and trying to decide what to do with myself next. Of course I don't have a million dollars in my pocket, but I do have the luxury of not being the prime breadwinner in my house (at least for now!) In some respects, the possibilities are endless for me, and that's a little scary.

I would pay off my debts, help some people out who really need it, take a vacation and then......go back to my flower shop.
Im looking at working another 15 years in this business, so thinking I would retire earlier than I plan to right now. Then again depends on how my legs and my back hold up........but with that kind of money i could buy new ones.

I am in a situation similar to that at this point in my life. I am semi retired and pretty much only do what I want. But, even today I am working on a presentation. It is so stimulating and fun, I would have to create with my mind and hands even if I never needed any more money.

It's just not in me to lay back and let the world pass by.

I'd cash the check into 10's and 20's and fill my mattress with it! And/or perhaps buy and small grocery store and filling station so I'd always have food, gas and a roof.

Just kidding...I would pay off all my debts and the flower shop debts. I'd have the FS pay me back directly so it can write off the expense. Have a retirement account (not in stocks), have health insurance, and take a 3 week vacation every year in Hawaii.

Then, I would work a little less and donate money and time to the animal shelter.

I would pay off my debts (the store's) and travel. As for my passion for this art...I would do it freelance and maybe donate the arrangements to places where people could use a little beauty & joy. But I would close the store in a New York minute!!!!!!

New store hours...by appointment, if I'm in town!!!!
