MANCHESTER, NH — Flowers for the home are in greater demand as people work and entertain more at home, says Frankie Shelton, a nationally known florist industry expert, who will speak at the two-day New Hampshire Florists Convention next week in Manchester, NH. Shelton’s talk is entitled “Put Money in Your Pockets and Enthusiasm in Your Hearts.â€

Shelton, of Houston, Texas, will present her ideas on the newest design trends and colors as well as how to turn a profit to about 300 florists expected to attend the second annual NHSFA fall convention at the Center of New Hampshire in Manchester Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25-26. Featured designers will be Bert Ford AIFD and Rick Talbot.

“The goal here is to motivate, educate and to renew their enthusiasm,†she said. “Florists like what they’re doing, but they sometimes get a quart low. What I like to do is get them excited again about the importance of one flower, what one flower on your table at home will do.â€

Saturday Workshops include “Beginning Ikebana,†the art of Japanese floral design, “Basics and Beyond†for beginning designers, and “Smarter Customer Service†with Tim Huckabee. Wire services FTD and Teleflora will demonstrate computer programs geared for florists.
