Hi!

I run a florist directory website and I am on here looking to gain some more knowledge about being a florist and the jobs in the industry.

Thanks

Got a URL?

We're fairly leery of those not in the biz, wanting to use our data.

Sorry, but unless your willing to tell us where you are and who you are and what your business is...it's not likely you'll be welcomed.

Note: Did you not see the questions you needed to answer?

Thanks.

Just a note: as per the announcement thread, the vote-in system is no longer in place. New members are just asked to introduce themselves.

Now ryan, I know the Vote-in system is in place, however, we now need a more comprehensive introduction so that the member can truly tell us what they are all about. I liked the information presented the old way, even without the voting/vetting system, I still would like the intro questionaiire.

meaning any twit can come introduce themselves as a florist or designer but is really an "agent" for some DOG or whatever entity ( a good $100 spent for a good insider to gather info or a quick $20 for a looksie, especially at archived threads) As long as they pay, they can play? Hmmm..... maybe I'm just paranoid? Still would like to know about websites....those do give a somewhat impression or not.....

I think the membership fee will deter most twitdom... I hope.

Whereas, with the old system any twit or troll could claim to be a florist ("sorry, no website yet, hubby's working on it") and get in by answering a few questions.

Just recently we had one person who was faked a shop name and location, got in and started trolling and talking smack about certain vendors. That person was outted and banned, as he should have been. Had the subscription system been in place it would have been a deterrent or a costly lesson :)

I knew that but is $20 gonna stop a troll? How restricted is the access for the monthly fee?........(just wondering?? I do have a smile on my face as I type this)

Smiling back :)

$20 vs $0 will stop some trolls

$20 will cause other trolls to pause and consider

Still other trolls will convince puppets to pay their money and be the troll

Bottom line on the troll issue: I think the subscription will stop more trolls than the voting.

My post was legitimate as i would still like to know who it is I'm speaking to. This person gave us basicly nothing.
My saying "it's not likely you'll be welcomed, meant it's not likely anyone will post a greeting to you.

Under the new system is there not an instruction for the person to tell us something about themselves?
As Mark said there was no URL, I looked for any info I could find online, and found nothing.

If I'm going to be paying to converse with strangers, I should atleast be allowed to know who they are.

Frankly, this feels as if I've had my hand slapped, for the same thing Mark did, ask the person for more information.

If it's going to be a pay your way in, and no checking credentials, then I fear no one will ever greet or post again.

I will say that if there is a deal-breaker for me, this would be it............I'm serious, bring back the introductory questionaiire.

Really?

This will all be handled in the next couple weeks as things are turned on. One thing, there will still be someone checking out those who pay and pony up to stick around, and we do have the ability to block, remove and refund anyone that is a detriment to the community.

For the record, this person has NOT returned to FlowerChat since registering, and spent a total of one minute on the site.

Yes Mark, Really.

The introductory questionaiire provided a list of items that helped to tell us about the person or business.

Let's take me as an example.

if I applied - I am a floral designer working at Carolina Pottery - as my only statement........without anything to back it up or to explain my years in the industry........no mention of AIFD, no mention of Two time Designer of the year - How would that be recieved?

I'm not saying to bring back the voting/vetting process - I'm asking for the questionaiire so that we can learn about our new members.

I'm in agreement, though,AGAIN, few will follow thru, if not serious about joining..and the few that DO join, once they spam the members, are toast.....no bacon,no eggs...
