Is anyone being told of availability issues with flowers for Morhers Day? I'm being told not to expect 80% of what I've ordered, and still no word on my wedding orders for that weekend. Was just told to deal with it and I'll have to work with what comes in. I'm frustrated.

Oh my! We ordered ours a while back and have not heard anything. Now we did call our wholesaler about some craptastic Asiatic lilies we received on Monday. We warned them if they come in like that for Mother's Day they would be picking them up again. We are very worried about the quality of lilies this Mother's Day. All 3 of our wholesalers have small openings, most with black spots. Even the orientals we got the other day were way smaller then what we had hoped for.

Do you have other suppliers close by you can call to see what they are saying. I can't believe it's that bad out there that they would be telling you 80% what the heck!!!

The only problem I think we're going to have is with our locally grown asiatic and oriental lilies. I think they're starting to "ration" them this week, just so they have some available for MD. The prices sure reflected this at the auction today.

word on the growers chat is flooding in SA hurting poms and aster production... lots of rain, flooding, and daily thunderstorms...

Rhonda,
I didn't order any of those, no one in my area want them because that's what the grocery stores carry. Um talking about roses, spray roses, hydrangea, Bells, larkspur, those types of flowers. No roses or sprays for Mothers Day? It's not like I placed an order for things I don't use everyday.

There are other suppliers, but their product has been like crap lately. They really aren't saying one way or the other.

We seem to always get crappy lilies at the holidays, I think the growers are taking shortcuts and the wholesaler is trying to make a killing by buying from different growers that are cheaper.
